First of many totally novice questions

Actually two questions this afternoon
Easy one first:
Is there any reason I should not store groceries or water in outside compartment (thinking canned and dry goods plus water for CPAP)?

Next:
When Magic got her first bath yesterday, I discovered water on floor inside (after guys left, of course). I cannot figure out how it got in. No spots or any other signs of leak on ceiling and not really any openings up there exactly over where the water was. The only possibility if it came in from the top might be the air conditioner.
Is it possible water could have come thru one of the vents on drivers side of RV (I don't know what those vents are for or where they go? It almost looked as if it could have run out from under one end of the dinette seat. Water was puddled on small area rug at top of entry steps; the rug was soaked so not just a tiny bit of water.

If the dry goods are in waterproof containers, I don't see why not - unless you are in bear country.

And where was the puddle in relation to stuff above it and to the walls? I left my vents open one time and we had a rain storm. The water puddles were not directly under the vents but when I got to looking, I realized that the angle the rain had to be blowing to get in under the vent was in a direct line to the puddles. If it's very close to the walls, I would be really looking to see if you have a leak along a joint.

See if you can replicate by spraying water on the roof in specific areas then checking to see if you have water inside.

Hi, We had the same problem and our leak was at the TV antenna on the top. Just leaked in and dripped straight down, nothing showing on the ceiling because it didn't touch the ceiling. Fixed it by putting dycor around the antenna hookup on the roof. hope this helps.

Were they using high pressure to wash? Especially if doing that, there are chances of some water getting in - mine will come from my stove vent. But having water in means you definitely want to figure out where it came in from - you might need to seal something (or have it sealed )

As to storing canned or water in the outside storage, not a problem. Just remember, if those storage compartments give weights - don't overload with heavy stuff - canned and water can be heavy.

I highly recommend you get a brita (or similar) water filter system - mine hold a couple quarts, I think - and if I use it - all the water tastes great from everywhere. When hooked up - I put a water filter directly to the rv (instead of to the water connection at the cg)? Why there? Because even if your hose is new, there's a "hose" like taste - and if it's not brand new - I would rather filter the water that came through even my own hose! Others do feel comfortable with it on the cg connection end - do what works best for you.

I am concerned about the leak but still puzzled as to entry point. Know I checked everything in ceiling except the antenna crank; nothing was wet. Actually there is just no place that makes sense to have leaked even the antenna. I've had no leaks during rain, at least that I am aware of at this point.

Filtering the connected water is fine; I use one at home too. Need distilled water for CPAP tho so have to carry it along in gallon jugs.

I had hoped to learn about weight distribution in the RV classes which got cancelled. Am winging it now but don't think I've overloaded anything (yet). I only have one outside storage area and it is under the rear corner bed on passenger side. Generator, fridg, water heater etc are all on other side along with bath room. The only other things on the passenger side are the propane tank, near front and the house batteries under entry steps, stove and sink. I'm not sure where the holding and gas tanks are located.

Remember also that what you put in the wardrobe and kitchen cabinets adds weight. When I load up I try to distribute that weight evenly also. It's hard because most of our cabinets, the 'pantry' and the wardrobes are on one side but the whole kitchen, bath and propane tank are on the other side. I also try to put the heavier items as close to the floor as possible ie: I put canned goods in a low drawer and food storage items like plastic containers, foil etc... in a top cabinet. Another item(s) that seem to accumulate is tools! I don't know how but I think our tools have babies when we're parked. Twice a year I purge the tool cubby and start over with the basics.

Did it leak over the winter (mine did ... grrr ...)? If not, it's probably situational. I agree you should find the source. But lacking an internal flood during winter storage, it's probably not serious.

Sarah did you have the hole I found at your steps repaired under the warranty? If not, you might have had water come in there. That is an important repair to have done, as your heat and cooling escape there. You could have some water come in. I leave some canned foods in the motorhome and water. But if it is meal, flour or crackers you will want to take those out. They become meals for bugs after awhile.
