Let's Imagine

Let's pretend that someone might drive to Alaska and needs new tires on his travel trailer. Should he just replace the old ones with the same? Or are there tires that might hold up better on the Long Long (and Rough) Drive?

If this "someone" has a reputable tire place nearby, I'd check with them. I changed brands on mine on the recommendation of where I purchased them and am glad I trusted them - since have had a few other people get the same recommendations from places wide and far. That said, my class c and your travel trailer - 2 different things. I'd make sure they are good tires and that you have a spare. That said, I'll be going up without a spare for the car - am thinking about that - might have to rectify it - but don't have room for it hahaha - that trunk is full above that dinky spare thing they provide these days. A couple years ago talked to a couple who had a tire go on their car and they had to disconnect and take the mh to the nearest town to get a tire and come back. And they go to AK every year - and never have had nor still do not have, a spare for the car - so it hasn't changed the way they travel.

MAXXIS. the BF put those on his 5'er and hasn't had a blowout since. He had a blowout every other trip before that, even with a couple of new tires. A few more dollars but worth every penny. My tire guy got him a great deal on them.....you could come here first to get them. Just sayin'.... :D

The different tire manufacturers have web sites and you can research the different tires in the size you need. I am more familiar with the Goodyear site. You can put RV tires in the search and they will tell you all the different RV tires they make. I decided, after many tire problems, that if they make RV tires I should put RV tires on my motorhome. The Einsteins around here want to sell me what ever truck tire they have in stock. They may be the same size but they don't hold up the same. I got tired of waiting on the local dealer to get me the tires I wanted and ordered them on line from Treadepot.com. They were here in a week.

Just an imaginary "what if" scenario...no real guy involved.

But as I created this scenario in my head, the "guy" looked just like Shemar Moore, who was searching for a short and red-headed, older traveling companion who wouldn't mind sharing the cramped quarters in his teeny-tiny travel trailer...

Oh my! Well, if he didn't want to travel in a small trailer there's always a bit larger rv that might be available.....

Mitch, if your still debating which tires? Let me put in a vote for Maxxis too!!! I looked and shopped all over the net for reviews on tires and after reading the reviews on the Maxxis tires decided to go with them.

I think I ordered them from "Discount Tire Warehouse". UPS delivered them in less than a week. Got the valve stems for them and a damage warranty on them too. Your favored tire shop should be able to order them for you in that way it would save you from lifting and loading them then hauling them and the TT all at the same time.

I still need to find a rim to use for the spare. Plus I need to get a jack that will handle and pick up the weight of my TT. Might not ever need to change my own tire on the TT but do want the necessary equipt. to do so if I should need to. I have a jack in the truck but it's not built for the weight of the TT. Once I get a bigger jack I just might give my floor jack to my son or maybe my friend Jodi.
