TroublesHooting/fixing Your Refrigerator

TroublesHooting/fixing Your Refrigerator

Postby longdog2 » Mon Sep 12, 2011 1:28 pm

I found a post in my latest RV Lifestyles newsletter of interest. You can link to the article on troubleshooting and fixing your refrigerator by Roger and Onna Ford, potentially saving you hundreds of dollars you might unnecessarily spend on a replacement at http://www.rvlifestyleexperts.com/free-rv-info/full-time-rving/average-joe-s-rv-refrigerator/

Thanks Colleen, that was very informative. Question for you, do you have a 12 volt on the back on your fridge to help move the air? I'd like to add one, but don't have the foggiest on how to do that. But I do understand that it helps the life of your fridge. I think I'll put that on my want list for the next time I put it in the shop. I was wondering if your honey had done that on Pholly for you.

Seriously, you have met "my honey". Do you really think he would be that proactive in working on the RV? I think you have me confused with someone else who has a DH that likes to travel and RV. My chances of getting something done are usually much better with my DS who loves to travel and RV. So, no, I don't have one. Okay, okay--he did put in the Maxxair fan but I think that was because Jon asked him weekly when he was going to do it. Next time you are here, we can hit Jon up next door. He is the one with love of RVs AND electrical knowledge. DS has DH thinking that they should put shocks on the RV so maybe when DS is here the next trip.

Camping World sells a refrigerator vent cover with a solar powered fan. I have been looking at that. The next time I have to have my motorhome in the shop I might ask about that. Years ago I had a solar powered fan that went over one of the roof vents. it was nice to have here in South Louisiana. I let it go with the motorhome when I traded thinking I could get another one. It seems they quit making them and the company went out of business.

Martha: According to a tip in my Escapees magazine the solar thing is sold at Camping World and on Amazon.
