Electrical issues?

Hey everybody, it's been a long time since I've chatted with you all. I do check in occasionally but since I'm not traveling lately I feel left out. :( poor me. I have been ridiculously busy with different things, including different jobs trying to earn some $$ for my baby's wedding next year and pay off some bills. Anyway, am finally taking a trip I call North Central and will leave Friday, the 9th. I needed a new coach battery but just bought it a couple weeks ago. Put it in the other day and we tested 12 volt light. We could hear some kind of pump running or something. My friend said it was the CO2 detector. Okay, this morning go to get it and take it for oil change, tires checked and top off propane for trip. Starts up fine, but as soon as I pull out of my parking space all the lights on the dashboard are flashing, needles on every gauge zooming up and down. She stalls but re-starts right away. I hope that maybe it just needs to charge a little so I keep driving. Don;t get more than few blocks and hear loud bangs, like gunshots, lights still flashing, needles still jumping. Dies several more times. Finally able to get it pulled over in small parking lot at a church. Call my friend who is working. He suggests unhooking negative side of coach battery and trying to jump start engine battery. My son comes over and we try it. Engine turns right over but exact same thing with lights and needles. Call for tow truck to have it towed to RV svc center/dealer, who are, of course, closed for holiday weekend. Supposed to work 10 hours shifts next week in town 45 minutes away. Sent RV center a long e-mail detailing problem and basically begging them to move it to the top of their priority list. Any body got any good guesses?

Not a clue, but it sure sounds weird! Never ever had that happen, even with low batteries. Good luck, I think you're gonna need it.

Sounds very weird - but in replacing the coach battery, are you sure you have everything connected properly? Sparkle had an error in connecting hers once and it caused a bunch of problems. So since that's the last thing you did, I'd make sure that's right. I do recommend you take pictures of how it should look and keep it either with the battery (in the compartment) or on your cell phone.

Moving the thread to the maintenance room.

Hope this gets taken care of right away for you on Tuesday!

Did you maybe connect the negative cable to the positive post and the positive to the negative? Don't know if that would make it act like that or not as I have never seen it done.

I did not connect battery myself. My friend Dean did who knows about both RV and cars. Spoke to RV Center twice today. First time, in am, talked to service guy and he made it sound like they might not even be able to look at it this week, which caused a little bit of freaking. Decided to try again and spoke to owner, who I've dealt with before, and see if I could get them to at least look at it and give me some idea if I can leave as scheduled, on Friday a.m. He told me they would pull it inside this afternoon and should be able to tell me something in the morning. My ex MIL, who is going with me, still works and will need to re-arrange her schedule if we can't leave when we planned. Just keep sending good thoughts that it will be a quick and easy fix and not too ridiculously expensive.

Could be a short in a wire somewhere.

Kellie, did you find out what your electrical problem was? Just wondering.
