Septic Tank

Septic Tank

Postby AlmostThere » Tue Jun 28, 2011 3:45 pm

A few days ago I posted about my friend's RV septic pipe breaking and she was told it would run around $700 or $800 to fix it. As it turned out her RV needed the tank replaced too, to the tune of $1680.00!! She said it wiped out one of her bank accounts and she is now parked in her DDs driveway until she can find a workamp job. She was working at the south rim of the Grand Canyon but the altitude made her too sick.

I don't know if anyone on the forum has had to have their tank replaced or if anyone had an idea what a new one would cost, so thought I'd share her experience.

Only the 2nd time I'm hearing of a tank needing to be replaced. The other was cracked and leaking! Yuck. And they weren't surprised it was cracked - so I didn't ask what they had done to it. Crossing fingers that it's a problem I never have to have.

Hope they find a new workamping job. I know they could get it at the north rim - but that's a higher elevation than the south rim, so wouldn't work. Hope they find something that does work for them. And that pays for this expense. Like Vickie I'm curious as to what was wrong with the black tank.

She didn't say, but did say the new one doesn't hang as low so it won't drag like the old one. So I suspect it was close to cracking from years scrapping.
