Good Morning all you nice gals! I need some opinions. I am one month away form hitting the road for as many years as I am able, so upon preparing, I plan to buy a small portable washing machine that hooks to the faucet. But on further thinking I realize that I will be boondocking as much as possible and that would likely be too much usage of water even if I only did one load per week of pants and tops (undies and light stuff can be done by hand). I'm expecting to have some difficulty finding boondock sites for the first year of my travels so will likely do State Parks off-and-on where I will be hooked up to water. What do you all do?

I can't speak to the boondocking. In my MH I have one of those washer/dryer combos. But the state parks at which I've camp hosted have had laundry facilities on site. The one wildlife refuge didn't, but my "C" didn't have a washer so I went to a laundromat in town.

I would go to a laundry mat. The washing machine is one more item to store in the RV. It will use your water when boondocking!

After 5+ years full-time, I still wouldn't get a washer/dryer in the rig - unless I got convinced to get a mega-rig lol. Doing laundry has never been a problem. When I boondock, if I can, I do lots by hand and hang out to dry. The rest of the time - finding a laundromat has never been a problem. And, in weeks like the past couple, when parked in my sis's driveway - I get everything done using their machines.

I, too, would not have a washer/dryer in my rig. Too much weight and uses way too much water. Have never had a problem finding a laundrymat. I admit to wearing my jeans for more than one day.

I have a washer/dryer connection in the corner of the garage on our toyhauler, but I had no problem putting Ronnie's wheelchair lift right in front of it because I knew I'd never use it.

Thanks for all the good advice; you've saved me some money I can spend elsewhere....you mean some people wash their jeans after only one wearing! the only way I would do that is if I fell in a swamp; even then I'd have to think about it.

If I've been boondocking for awhile, I sometimes go find a Passport America (or other less expensive park) that has laundry facilities for a night or two - fill up water, dump tanks, do laundry, etc - then head back out. Worth the price of admission - not to say sometimes they have cable tv and I become a tv junkie for that time, too

Mine have a habit of walking to the washer when they feel they need a bath. Linda

Why is it jeans are at their most comfortable just when they need washing!?!
