Understanding and Preventing RV Electric Shocks, Part I

If you get nothing else out of this - please remember - if there is an on/off switch at the box to plug in - turn OFF the circuits before plugging in or out. I turn all of them off even if I'm only using one. And use one hand to do the plug in/out.

I was very good at remembering the rules when I hooked to the park electric last Monday. Whoever was in my site last left the breaker on. I shut it off. I then hooked my surger to the breaker and then plugged in. Flipped the breaker on and my surger indicated all was well. BUT I also used my new voltage reader inside the RV and it read 120 on the nose so I figured I was good.

Good article. Thanks for posting. do have one question though. It said never plug in while standing on wet ground. What do you do if it's pouring when you get there and no let up in sight or has recently rained? Anyone?

Shhhh - I plug in. Wear tennis shoes and make sure power is OFF when I do it. Then click it on quickly LOL That's when to really make sure you aren't touching anything else.
