RV Electricity 101

Our Karen - RetiredHappy - found this article and it's a good one. As soon as Part II comes out, we'll post the link to it also. (And as it will be a 12 part series - hopefully people will read all 12 parts).

Understanding and Preventing RV Electric Shocks, Part I

If you get nothing else out of this - please remember - if there is an on/off switch at the box to plug in - turn OFF the circuits before plugging in or out. I turn all of them off even if I'm only using one. And use one hand to do the plug in/out.

Always good to know, Beth.

I was very good at remembering the rules when I hooked to the park electric last Monday. Whoever was in my site last left the breaker on. I shut it off. I then hooked my surger to the breaker and then plugged in. Flipped the breaker on and my surger indicated all was well. BUT I also used my new voltage reader inside the RV and it read 120 on the nose so I figured I was good.

Good article. Thanks for posting. do have one question though. It said never plug in while standing on wet ground. What do you do if it's pouring when you get there and no let up in sight or has recently rained? Anyone?

Shhhh - I plug in. Wear tennis shoes and make sure power is OFF when I do it. Then click it on quickly LOL That's when to really make sure you aren't touching anything else.

This is a great series! Some of it is common sense, but we can still get lazy, so it is good to make us aware. Please keep us up to date :D
