I'm having prob lems with windows and am getting tired of constantly running virus/malware scans. Does anyone out there use a Mac? It used to be that a lot of programs wouldn't run with a Mac. Inquiring minds want to know.

I am a long time, very satisfied Mac user. Almost never have problem with mine and no difficulty finding software for things I do.
What types of programs are you worried about not running?
Also, there is another post on forum from earlier this year by a Mac user commenting on how happy she is with hers and the local apple store. Not sure who that was??? Maybe Ava????

talked with 4th grade teacher today and she was raving about her Mac,...loves it. so does the school superintendent. I'm getting ready to check it out. but i have a feeling they may be more expensive? my laptop is only 1.5 years old so I really can't afford to replace it right now, but i am sooooooooo ready to!

I bought a Macbook in the fall and really like it but kept my older Dell. Sure wish there was an Apple store nearby as no classes at the junior colleges for Mac. I have Microsoft Word for Mac which does excel, power point and everything.
On my PC I have AVG virus protection (one version is free) which runs automatically and I switched from using Internet Explorer to Firefox now I hardly ever have anything show up when I run Spybot or Ad-Aware so seldom even do that now.
The Macbook is around $1000. and there is a new 24" desktop out for $1499 which looks awesome!

My son/family have a MAC and I use it when I visit. It's so fast to bring up stuff! He did have some problems switching over from the Quicken Financial program as the one for the MAC is somewhat different and limited, I guess. I, too, get so frustrated with this one being so slow cause there is always some virus or update going on in the background! Some mornings it takes this thing almost 20 mins to boot up! My son/DIL have been on me to get a MAC but my closest MAC store is in Portland and that's one town I try staying out of. Way too much traffic, one way streets etc. I'm still a small town/country road driver at heart!
PS I play games on Yahoo and his MAC said it didn't have ?? it took to use the games.
PSS their family downloads tunes to their iPod and can hook it up to the MAC to listen to their music.

I've used Quicken for Mac for years. No problem or limitation that I've discovered; works like a charm and does everything I need.

I believe all the backup Quicken files from the PC will not load into the MAC version. Different file extensions or some such. Not sure if he ever got them switched over or just started from day one on the MAC.
