When I stored my RV in November I filled the gas tank and I still have a little less than a 1/2 tank left. Should I drive it on out or add to what is in the tank?

So I've heard. But I've also been told when sitting, like at my workamp jobs, it's better to fill the tank first. I always do and never have problems when I leave. I usually fill my tank after I get to half.

Also I have learned you should use an additive (Stabil, I think it is called) when storing for a period of time. I used it when I had the Roadtrek and was not full-timing. Had to use that when I had the sailboat (motor) too. As for what to do now, I would fill it, mixing with new gas.

Yes, I think it does. One of the ladies at the campout last week had health problems and hadn't used her van in a year. She said the problem she had with her van was from bad gas. I know it gums up the mower if you let it sit all winter with out putting a gas stabilizer in the tank and running it before you shut it down. I guess you can put that in a vehicle too. I'm sure Melissa can tell us what it does.

Now a days, the unleaded will be fine. Back in the old days with regular gas it used to lacquer but that's not the case any more. Filling the tank is so you don't get rust and moisture in its.

We use an additive in our diesels to prevent it going bad when the van or bus sits.
