Another question hope it does not sound to dumb

Ok this may be a dumb question but I just want to be sure on a few things before we hit the open road.
is it OK to drive with the roof vents open? They have vent covers. I am guessing it might be ok. You all have been helpful thanks in advance.

I have the MaxxAir vent covers and normal l leave mine open about a 1/4 inch just to get a little air flow. If the weather looks crappy I'll shut them just to make sure none blows in while traveling. I shut all my windows on my 5er while traveling.

With the vent covers you're probably safe, but I still shut mine. Just personal choice. I don't want the road dirt, dust coming in.

No dumb questions ~ I ask alot of them. I had the Maxx Air covers installed and dealer said OK to drive with them open if I want. Like Beth said - personal choice probably.

I have driven with the vent open on my truck camper and didn't notice any dust. I think it depends on where you are driving such as a highway vs. boondocking.

Before I got my vent covers, mine used to open as I drove if I put a window down in front. The air pressure forced them open.

Other than dust getting in, the negative air pressure can pull up sewer gases from your toilet, especially if your toilet seal is not good. I replaced my seal and it is not so bad now.

It's not the same as windows - but you don't have control to shut them if you go through a dust or sand storm, for example, that you don't realize is about to happen. And it will bring in a nice, layer of either of those if it happens.

If you have vent covers, it's fine. Mine have fine screens on them. I get more crap in there, just sitting in a campground, not to mention how dirty the inside screen gets from using the ceiling fan  Even the fan blades get yucky and I have to take it all apart, now and then, to clean it all. Sometimes, I leave mine open for air flow. Don't do it, if you don't have the hooded cover, as the wind will rip off the crank up cover :x

I like to leave the one in the living area open and open my driver side window while driving on the open road. Close the side window in town driving. It helps pull the air through. I rarely drive with a/c on in my rig, but then I am usually feeling cool or cold anyway. I get dust anyway. But, then I grew up and lived in OK most of my life and expect dust to be a daily thing.
