inverter question's

lost my post and was almost through too :(
for some reason when I go to turn on the inverter it lights up then goes off and a box says need charged
never have seen this before...
This summer my grandson put the new batteries in is there something he should have done when connecting them
up to be with the inverter?
since I've been plugged in till this weekend haven't relied on it with no electricity I sure don't want to only use the
plug in's when I'm running the genny right now I need my phone charged..can't run the genny cause I can't find the adapter
know it's in the house but where????
thanks for the help keep the answers easy as I'm not to savy on teck terms

Since it says "need charge" I'd check that he wired batteries up correctly (ie not backwards, parallel instead of series, etc.. don't know if you use 2 12 volt or 2 6 volt batteries ). To me it's stating you have a low battery voltage. You can use a voltage checker to check you battery voltages. I guess I'd start there. If the battery voltage is good something may have happened to your inverter. You can get a basic voltage meter good for all your electrical needs for about $20 at Walmart.

Batteries (12 vdc) should be about 13.4 vdc when fully charged. The charging system should put out about 14 vdc when charging battery.

Sheila, helps if you have a photo of the before and after hookup on the batteries. Could be inverter isn't being charged, as in it may not be connected. Also, check to make sure if there is a 'reset' button that you push it just in case it flipped off. Mine did that once.
