2004 Coachman Concord M-235

I looked at this MH today.

I liked that it is smaller (my DD would be intimidated to drive anything bigger if she came traveling with me), however of course there is less storage space underneath...but I could live with that for now.
It has 33K on the OD. It's a consignment, and owner wants $39,9 for it.
It was a FL coach. Has a 2 - 3' long surface scrape on one side towards the bottom. Batt. kill switch is burned out...sales guy said the whole box would need replacing; new tires, but spare is old. Onan 4000 Quiet Gen.
It has a Hidden Hitch receiver (5000 lbs towing); satellite, emergency start button, ducted heat and AC; fiberglass body, but rolled "artificial" rubber roof (whatever that means); manual awning; 1 slide; gas/smoke detector; darkening shades; Many other items...

Any thoughts so far....?

One thing I noticed is some of the outside plasticky stuff looks warped from outside heat...I would guess that FL has that heat problem like us here in AZ. But one thing in particular is the screen door; not only is the hand-slidey thing warped, and unable to slide anymore, but the weatherstripping is trashed, and the latch is broken off...making the screen door completely unusable. The sales guy said they would clean the dirt "out of the track...and it'll be good as new..." yada, yada. But, I wondered why he just didn't offer to replace it. So I came home and went online looking for that door....no such luck. Then I began to wonder about: How do you replace things that are unique to a used MH? Especially this door being particularly unusual because the coach body is curved, or bowed out, making that door shaped like that too. And I really need a stable screen door for the pooches, and to be lockable for safety and whatnot.

Any thoughts about that?

What's wrong with the one posted in the link? It's $10K less than the consignment one you are talking about?

It's in NC.

For 10K I think a trip to NC might be cheaper than buying the one nearby. I think the one you are looking at is way over priced from the way you have described it and the one in NC being so much less. But of course this is just my opinion :) When I bought Elsie, I offered them 4K less than their 'sale' price and they took it. Of course that make me think I should have offered less

Seriously, you make a good point...and I know that people go out of state all the time to buy RVs.

But I have a lot of experience buying used cars....also, there's a running joke in my family; "Get Mom to go with you if you need to buy a car."
What I've learned in that pretty much all used vehicles are "20-Footers"...that is that they look great in pictures; and from far away, but when you get up close...closer than 20 feet...you see all the flaws.

So I'm betting that the one in NC is also a 20-Footer. Having said that however, I WAS planning on using this ad for this other one in NC to shore up my low-ball offer....IF I make one. Because when I was looking at this one yesterday it didn't take long for me to see it wasn't worth the price. Anyway, the sales guy has a lot of "Tells." He was non-stop talking about all the great things about the coach...plus he couldn't stop mentioning that they wouldn't turn me away if I made an offer; "I can get the owner right on the phone!" Plus he kept mentioning how this coach was designed for dog show people, who only need to travel for weekends....yada, yada. He seemed to be trying to get me to either not ask questions, or feel sorry for him because of; Insert Problem Here:_________

He just wouldn't shut up.

If I didn't know better, I'd think I intimidated him a little 8-)

My main concern is this screen door...it has to be replaced...and I can't figure out how to do that. Now I'm wondering how does one replace things on used RVs that are unique like that.....is it just a lost cause?

I'd hate to pass up something just because the screen door is useless!

I guess I could call NC and ask the condition of the screen door

I've know of folks that got hold of the manufacturer and ordered what they needed.

True...but this company was bought out by somebody else during the Crash.

Ok...I just talked with the lady at Camping World OEM Parts - Mesa...it's just as I thought; before 2006, she said, pretty much anything is not replaceable and you have to get it custom made if you can't find another RV to cannibalize it from.

It's not necessarily that one company got bought by another, but that if the unit's 4 - 6 years old.

So there you go...

There are 1,000's of motorhomes for sale. Thanks to the internet you can do a lot of research. I believe that when you find the right one it speaks to you. I know this sounds crazy but many will tell you this. If you have doubts about this one it's probably not for you.

My RV is 1999 and I've been able to get anything I've needed parts wise. I don't use camping world for those. But I did buy out of state and would again. You don't finalize the sale without seeing and checking everything out. And I don't trait our believe almost any RV sales people. Been there done that. It's one reason I try to find RV service shops who don't also sell.

Also, if you want to make an offer, you can do so contingent on their replacing the screen door. If they say no, just walk away. Like Martha said, there are tons of used RVs out there, and many are still in pristine condition.

Thanks Martha!

I just found out...no door can be had...not even custom made.

I also found out that NO dealer will REPLACE anything...only fix.

Sheesh...what a pain!

I think I'd be far more concerned with the outside warping..... There could be water penetration & rot inside that wall....Anyway, I just wouldn't be anxious to buy anything that appears to have several problems that could be expensive to fix....lots of RV's out there & there's bound to be one that will call your name....!!!!!

Oftentimes, Beth needs an interpreter...I believe she was saying, "And I don't trust or believe almost any RV sales people."

It's an SmartPhone typing thing. ;)

Lots of times, we hope she doesn't see the autocorrects so we can have a good giggle.
