Auto Stairs Won't Retract

Hiya,
I remember a thread about this. The advice was to try silicon something. Silicon spray? If so where do I spray it. If not, any advice before I take Betsy back to the shop?

Thanks,
Nikki

I'm no help with the stairs cause I never had automatic stairs, but was just wondering and kicking out an idea....is there a fuse?

I take a yoga mat and lay on the ground and try to spray what looks like a moving part, the rollers and gears. It's not easy to see where to spray. I push the steps closed when I close the door a few time and that seems to help. They are so close to the ground that they pick up a lot of dirt. If they don't sound like they are trying to move at all you might have a lose wire or the motor might be bad. I have had that happen but my motorhome is a 2002.

Thanks, everybody.
You're not going to believe this one. They retracted during the night. I do think Betsy is haunted.
All the same, I've learned a lot about stairs in the last few hours. Now I'm on my way to the store for lithium-based grease lubricant.
I've learned that there are about six billion ways to do everything. Pick one that makes sense and is doable. I'm sure that some here will agree with my choice. Others, not so much.
Grammymaggie, I hope your steps get fixed, soon. Using a stool must be a hassle.

Been there, done that! Mine was the motor and was repaired in about half an hour for about $250. Of course, it happened when I was getting ready to leave a campground and head for home, and ya can't drive with the dang things hanging out! I was able to man-handle them in and then drove quickly to the repair facility!

Mine started working intermittently last summer, fortunately always quitting while in, and not stuck out. It was the motor....had it replaced, and all is well.
