plexiglass over window

Has anyone tried putting plexiglass over their RV windows to help insulate the RV in the winter? If so, I would like to know if it was effective. Thanks.

I can't picture how that could be sealed to keep moisture from between the two? I've put insulation up that I could easily move to handle that.

The only plexiglass we use is on the screen door, so we can keep the big door open with the air conditioner on and also with the heat going. Other than that, I haven't thought about putting plexiglass anywhere else.

Irmi, that is a good idea. I will get Steve to show me. I love to have my door open so I can see outside, but can't if A/C or furnace is on. If they are on, temps really don't allow to just have door open with just the screen.

I have plexiglass on the screen door also - it works great, that is why I wondered about trying it on the windows.

BB, I have double pane windows so wouldn't need it there. I can see why you would ask, though.

I've read on another forum about Reflectix. I've never used it but understand many people use it to insulate windows, doors, storage areas, etc. in their RVs. It can even be used to insulate garage doors in stick & bricks. It's a sort of bubble wrap sandwiched between an aluminum foil-type outer layer. It can be purchased at Lowe's, Home Depot and online and comes in rolls of different widths and lengths. Apparently you cut it to the shape of the space you want to insulate. The difference with this and plexiglass is you can't see through. Another consideration would be the weight of plexiglass if you use it in a lot of places.
