After all of my hollaring at you sure hope that it is out of alignment and that the steering isn't just the nature of the beast!

Just wondering if it isn't a bad tie rod. That effects the steering a lot. Not a good thing if it breaks on the road tho! That happened to me last summer when the first one went. Luckily, this time I recognized the signs and got it in last week before it broke on the other side. Do you hear any "clunking" sound when you turn in one way or the other?

Barbie, the issue is that it tends to wander and then I end up oversteering, which gets very tiresome. Also when I turn onto a street it won't self correct. I have to literally turn the steering wheel to straighten it out. I did find out, when I took it to a tire place, that the MH has been in a wreck and almost everything under the front end has been replaced with new stuff. They could not find a problem, but did agree that it did wander etc.
The couple I bought the MH from only owned it for 3 mons because his wife wanted a bigger one with a separate bedroom. When he bought it used, he ran a CarFax on it and it came back clean. I called him after I found out about it having been in a wreck and he had the papers to show me and I have no reason to not believe him. He and his wife are retired school teachers from our little town.
Other than the steering issue I love my little MH! It's perfect in every way for me.

None of the RV dealers around here will work on the chassis part of class c's or b+. Since mine is only 23' and not much bigger than a regular van I finally found a Ford dealer that will service it and do repairs. That's one out of 5 in the area. When I had a 27' I had to use a repair shop. I had a tire with a defect years ago that made my motorhome pull to the left. It took several shops to find that problem.

Hope you can find what your electrical problem is. I ran my canister vacuum in my 27' once and it blew out the converter. Now if I want to run the vacuum I plug it into the carport plug. It is really easy to overload the 30 amp rv's. I can't run my air conditioner and microwave at the same time. Or the toaster and something big. Can't remember if the coffee maker causes a problem too. I have been using a coffee filter type thing that just makes one cup so I don't have to drag out the coffee maker.

Carfax is NOT perfect. IF a wrecking yard owned the RV/car at any point you can tell it was in a wreck. My understanding is that if the people who own it when it was wrecked have it fixed Carfax may not show the wreck particularly if the owners had it fixed themselves. All Carfax really shows is prior owners so you know if it came thru a car auction or a wrecking yard ever owned it. My first RV, the 1989 Ford Falcon Class B wandered really bad. I was told that due to the age the steering linkage was loose and really couldn't be fixed. I agree it was really tiresome to drive any distance as you were constantly steering. Please keep us posted.

My X and I took the MH to Carl's Alignment and Brake place this morning, and Carl called my Xs cell phone a bit ago with the results, then my X called me. (I asked Carl to call my X cause he would know what Carl was talking about and explain it to me and give me his suggestion).
First he said that whoever did the wheel alignment forgot to replace the shims (?), so that needs to be done. Then the left front tire is loose so is fixing that. He also suggested better shocks on the back and stablizers. Said it will run about $1500. I couldn't call him back right away because he was leaving the shop for a Dr appt, and said to call him first thing in the morning to let him know what I wanted him to do. I'm thinking ALL OF IT! ;) :D

I would bite the bullet and go for all of it. Not only is it tiring to drive something that wanders it can be dangerous. You might have had a wheel fall off. Scary!!

I don't know squat about cars and stuff, but you need to be safe! My vote is for do it all (if you trust the guy...).
Does the X know about that stuff, really, and does he agree?

Lenora, I would also go for it. Sounds like a good plan. All items seem like small fixes, but all together, it sounds like it will take care of most of the problems you have been having. Good luck. Linda

Told ya it was something to do with the front end! Man, I love it when I'm right! Loose tire? What's with that? Didn't you have that checked at the tire place???? Glad you're going to have it all done, good decision on your part. Most MH (and trailer) manufacturer's put the minimum size components on and after you get all loaded you find out that it ain't gonna work. Trailer manufacturer's are famous for not putting on heavy or larger enough tires, and then when you blow a couple, you get smart and put the right ones on. Glad you found this before you got down the road and fell out of love with your Lil Missy.
