Where is your GPS mounted?

I never leave my gps in plain sight either. I like that it is not hard wired. I use it in my car and have loaned it to my children who have since bought their own.

I really like that bean bag thingy, but my dash tilts back to the windshield at a pretty steep angle so don't think it would work for me. I usually just drape the cord across the cab and stick it on the drivers window. Sometimes it falls off and sometimes Sam the cat knocks it off when he's prowling across the dash and decides to take a shortcut to the floor. It hit him in the butt once and you should have heard the screaming! He just knew he'd been shot. And then Chewy got in on it..and all of this at 70MPH down the freeway. Oh my yes, we've had some fun on our travels!

Mine sits in the passenger cupholder - unless I have a passenger, then it sits in between the cupholders and has a tendency to fall down. I just then say that Tom is drunk.

My Stella sits on the far driver side in it's little bean baggy thingy. I like it there as I don't have to divert my eyes far from the road. When I move Stella to my car, she sits in the same place and I keep a ball cap over her to hide her, ironically the cap says Grey Goose Vodka. For those of you who don't know, that's the name of my HHR that I pull behind my Somewhere.

Anyway been thinking of taking Stella on the Cruise with me and see if it can tell me where I am in Cozumel, Grand Cayman or Jamaica. What da ya think girls, will it work?

Mine sits on a non-slip type mount on the dash. Or, like on my recent trip, it sat where it landed when I tossed it into the back seat of the rental car after it tried to take me on a gravel road in the middle of Maine.

You also have to be careful that it doesn't try to take you down an ATV/4X4 road as it is all the same to a GPS.

I'm trying to figure out where to mount mine on the dash as the center area is curved enough that the suction thing won't work. I'd like it mounted right where my radio is but I sure the heck don't know how that would happen! ;)

I'm with CEDAR.... I have had adequate luck w/ maps so far and so I'll just save my $$ until such time as I see the urgent need for one. I had one w/ my ex on our trip to AK and used it very little. What a waste of a hundred dollar bill!

Janet, I think paper maps are great, just hard to use when you travel solo and have to be doing the driving and trying to read one.

Mine sits on a bean bag mount, I have the Nuvi 760 that also has bluetooth for my phone. I love the bean bag mount, it locks onto it so I never have the issue of it "flying around". Slides a bit at times on rough roads but an easy deal to readjust.

I also have no way to read maps while driving, altho I do look at the paper maps to get the "gist" of where I am going. What I really appreciate about the GPS is that it tells me what lane to be in to turn onto the freeways or my designated road. I am 56" feet long when towing and to merge into the correct lane is really difficult at times.

I mount mine on my dash and to keep the thieves from breaking in to steal it.....I keep it covered with a baseball cap when not in use. And the baseball cap is one of those super masculine kind that looks like it belongs to some big bad Marine.

For those who use the bean bag holders: are the stable enough so when you want to use the touch screen while driving, that it won't slide away? Like if you have it suctioned to the dash you could easily use the touch screen.

Yes, mine is secure enough to be able to use the touch screen on the GPS just fine.

I just came back from a three day trip and the gps stayed in the donut. I think I have the answer. You have to spit on the suction cup. :o Just kidding but I did use water and the suction held better.
