Generator or switch problem?? UPDATE, more ??

Thanks again for the helpful suggestions.

I went back this afternoon and tried again. Control panel shows house batteries have full charge (been plugged to shore power without interruption since 1/4). Still generator would not catch. Started engine and tried that just in case, no luck. BTW: The inside switch is still working thus the breaker did not trip again.
If you have any more ideas, I'll try them as soon an the Arctic blast leaves and my mouth doesn't hurt so much.
