This really doesn't make any sense to me. I'm going to look into it further and see if I can get a definitive answer.
I'm on the case. (but I'm not Paula Zahn.)

ON EDIT: I had an online "chat" with someone from Verizon and she said that the double usage statement was not true. I plan to stop at a Verizon store tomorrow in Paris.
..

That made no sense to me. So yes, it's go in the store and get the answer in writing before purchasing. I will say though that 5 gb goes further for me with AT&T than it did with Verizon. I never could figure that out.

I had a hotspot with both Sprint and now AT&T. It began by adding 2 gb for $20 a month. when I changed to AT&T went with 4 gb (I'm on my SIL plan as a family member. They offered a flat rate for I think 4 people with 10 gb between all of us for around $160 a month. He doesn't use much, if any, of the data gb and I've never even come close to the 10gb. When I want to use my computer, I turn the hotspot on my phone "ON" and I'm on line. When I'm done, I turn it off. The hotspot is different from my phone finding and using someone's wifi. If I'm somewhere with free wifi I use that on my computer to save my data on my hotspot. Best of both worlds. If I have a phone signal I can get on the internet anywhere. Love it. You do need to have a smart phone, tho.
