electic cable

when cleaning out the truck cab and back I found a electrical cable for the 5th wheel think 30 amp...
I think in the past it wouldn't always work but hasn't been used for a long time as I forgot it was there...question is can
I take it and have new pieces put on it ...when I stay in campgrounds it would be the cable to use it's longer and yet not as long
as the cord I have been using ...I also found the jumper cable looks worn in one area can a person take and tape it like you can
the electrical cords with electrical tape? if not no since taking it with me

If the jumper cable is not worn down to bare wire you can tape it as it is just the covering. If bare wire is showing I would discard it.
