computer techi help

Postby avalen » Mon Oct 21, 2013 10:51 pm

My computer won't load the user profile, so I can't get past the sign on screen. Its a windows 7, and back when
I had 98, and 2000, even XP I could hold down the control key and start in
safe mode and do some diagnostics. I'm baffled with this. My smart phone is ok for
keeping on touch but not for serious posting. Anybody have a clue? I hate the thought
of taking it to a computer shop, but I just might have to.

Here you go, Alice:

To begin entering Windows 7 Safe Mode, turn on or restart your PC.

Just before the Windows 7 splash screen appears, press the F8 key to enter Advanced Boot Options.

(Just keep hitting F8 until you get it right :) )

Using the f8 key put where I needed to be to do some repairs. I also created a
second administrator user name just in case I need it someday. Thank you for
your help. Will try and get time this evening to put together a post of my adventures.

Nothing like the experienced women on this site to help those of us technically challenged. Glad it worked for you, thanks to Beth!
