Where do you all keep your sewer hose is when not in use
I am not happy with this thing I have now. it is in a giant plastic ziplock bag
kept in a small compartment.. I have not been able to find a plastic box small enough to fit the compartment.. it is the zip lock bag I'm not happy with.... do any of you use your bumper
to store the hose?

Lots of RV bumpers are set up to hold the hoses. The biggest problem with keeping them there is that the metal bumper can rust over time, making a mess on the outside of the hose and maybe eventually rusting out the bumper. I never had issues with either of those things, but what I didn't like about the bumpers were the square end caps. They NEVER seemed to stay on. Fortunately I never lost a hose. Finally, I found a type of pin that worked far better than the end caps. I had 2 holes drilled in each end of the bumper and inserted the pin into those holes. The pins were held tight by a retracting ball bearing-thingy that was spring-loaded -- it popped in and out quite nicely. What I also liked about this set-up was that it provided much more ventilation for the hose and inside of the bumper, allowing things to dry more quickly and thus preventing rust.

I store my hose in my bumper now, but only use it when I have to use a communal dump site. My sewer system of choice is the "sewer solution". I swear by it! Used it for my 9 days of camping last week without one worry. And my black tank is clean as a whistle.

Yes, my hose is in my bumper. I've known people who line the bumper or wrap the hose first. My bumper has rust inside, yes ... but for all the years it's been in use, that's not a biggie for me. I have two sewer hoses in it - one on each side - one I use (a good one) when hooked up at parks - it's also longer, but I can take it apart as it has two sections - only using one section now and it's still too long lol. The other has no connecting end for when I use a dump station.

that you use...not sure what it looks like...maybe post a pic??
my hose does fit in my bumper but have visions of it falling out while
on the road...lol...so I never put it in there...

Google "Sewer Solution" or look at Camping World's website. That's where I bought mine. I don't have the pin set-up anymore.

Here's a link to what they look like. I'm sure you can find them elsewhere for less money, but since I don't have them nor need them I wouldn't know.

When I had the shorter camper, I attached a plastic sewer hose holder (PVC pipe) to the truck bumper. wasn't pretty but worked. I prefer my sewer solution, but it isn't convenient for black tank dumping at public dump stations due to the time it takes and often the lack of a water faucet for the hose you need to connect to it.

And you don't need to buy a fancy sewer solution - I just bought the clear connection to add to my set-up in order to rinse it out - that has a place for a hose. Need to get ready for work, but will look and find a link to one later.

Beth, the Sewer Solution is like a macerator but without the mechanical parts. It works by macerating anything solid with a high-pressure stream of water, thus the need for a second hose, unless you detach your drinking hose and attach the hose you use for the Sewer Solution. It does take longer to dump due to the maceration process. But the upside is that you can leave your grey water tank open all the time, as you won't need the water from it to wash out the hose. It's not ideal for using at communal dump sites because it takes longer, but in my book is more failsafe and quite a bit more sanitary. I've used mine for 2 night trips when I have full hook-ups and LOVE it. Had it now for 3 years without the hint of a leak.

Laura, this doesn't have a macerator - the link I posted, but also allows the grey water open all the time, because after dumping the black, you have the hose hooked to it and it flushes the tank. I don't like the macerators, but do like this. Personal preference (and much, much less expensive) - and too often I'm not hooked up in order to use either - but this is just a breeze to use.

I had a 25' sewer hose but decided it was too long to manage, so I stuffed it in the bumper and bought a shorter one for most times.

Problem is that now the old sewer hose is stuck in the bumper and I cannot get it out!! That was a year ago, and I think it will remain there forever. In the meantime, I bought a new 15' hose and a 10' extension. Both are stored in the storage bin where my hookups are. I think trailers are different from motorhomes, but I use two compartment underneath--one that has the hookups is "dirty" so I just store my rinsed out hose there. The other compartment is "clean" and I store my water hoses, water hoses, extra electrical cable, stool for sitting on to reach in and hook stuff up, and a lot of cleaning products and buckets for washing my motorhome.

When we had our 24 footer...we didn't have a bumper with the ability to hold the hose so my husband attached a couple of mail boxes one for dirty one for clean ...made it easy to find the trailer from the back ...
in the 5th wheel we have a special place to put the hose which I use so not a problem
would like to do the clear section though so I don't stop to soon

No, you don't need to, but it is sure more convenient! I decided to buy one the first time I was in a park where the sewer was up a little hill. I gave up on that one and went to the dump station. I've had to use the regular sewer hose a couple times this summer at odd hookups - what a pain.

There are several products on the market it just depends on what fits your need and RV. Personally I try to store clean and dirty in different areas. I have a tote I keep in front on my 5'r with several lengths of hose, adapters and sewer wrenches for difficult caps and connections. A common solution is a 4" PVC pipe mounted under the RV to store the hose. Some people use a PVC fence post with a gutter for a tray.
