Overly Dramatic...

I don't want to be overly dramatic here, cuz you all know that's just not me...EVER.

But I need to share this little trick I found tonight on the internet, for those with pets who have special dietary needs.

Abby, as many of you know, has been very, very sick. As it stands now, NO treats or cookies or people food of ANY kind until at least the end of January. NONE WHATSOEVER. All she can have is the prescription food she has been given by her vet. (I thought I knew more than the vet and decided Abby could have a Bully Stick. She has never chewed on the one she has and it's certainly too "tough" to break off a piece...BIG MISTAKE. Desperate little pest has been gnawing on it for 2 nights now. She threw up this morning and had the squirts this afternoon. I won't again second guess the vet. So far, so good tonight.

So, the Little Beast has really been miserable (and Mommy, too). She's a "gotta have a cookie for every breath I take" kinda girl. This illness has been killing me. The poor thing is just so unhappy. And I just can't kick a sickly dog. I want her back healthy...

The trick I read about tonight - take her canned food, slice it about 1/4" slices and stick it in the oven to dry it out. I changed it up a bit and just broke her canned food into small pieces and cooked it on convection (300 degrees) for about 35-40 minutes, on a fine meshed drying rack.

The Beast is going nutso over them!!! I have a another batch in my food dehydrator.

All things considered, it's been a good day. Just gotta love the internet.

The End.

Neat. So glad you found a way to make the food something Abby is interested in.

And, Ava, love the new avatar.

Did the vet restrict how much of the special food she can have or can she have as much as she wants? Hope this works out for both of you...plus it gives you something to do.

And yes, Ava, really nice pix of you!

Mitch, just a thought but when you mentioned how often Abby wants a treat, has your vet checked her thyroid or tested her for diabetes?

Just be sure her "treats" are included in her daily caloric intake or Miss Abby will be the size of TN. At least now she (and her Mommy) are happy.

I found a recipe for Cat Crackers on the internet made with tuna fish. The cats informed me that was a waste of good tuna. I need to try Mitch's trick with cat food. They think they should have treats every time someone goes in the kitchen.
