Something to think about when adopting...

Postby AlmostThere » Sun Jan 29, 2012 6:40 pm

Kelly shared this video on FB and I thought it worth repeating here.

Thanks for sharing that. Amazing what a hug can do!

I remember watching "Groomer Has It" on Animal Planet. The groomers had to go to a shelter and pick out a dog to groom and try to get it adopted before the other groomers. Artist (groomers name) picked out one that looked even worse than the one in this video, knowing full well he wouldn't win the competition because of what horrible condition the dog was in, but in his heart, he couldn't walk away from this dog, like the other groomers had. He touched everyone so much with his huge heart that they didn't declare a winner for that competition, and he eventually went on to win Groomer of the Year. (And the dog did eventually get adopted!)
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

That dog reminded me of my little Kiwi ... watching her terror was just heart-wrenching. What a loving man to be so patient and sweet with that frightened little girl.

And HOW CUTE she looked after the grooming. It always tickles me to see how thick-coated dogs like to roll & rub and feel their skin after they've been "zipped." How good that must have felt. I hope she found a loving home.

It makes me cry to think of how many poor frightened little dogy souls have been overlooked and put to death just because nobody took the time to hug. Kudos to all who adopt and provide safe and happy homes to our canine buddies.
