son comes back from working on a unit that was a moveout a couple days ago, they left
a kitty (almost kitten) in an empty apt with the litter box, bag of leftover litter, catfood
and the kitty bed (folded up towel). Its downright cold here, and that little kitty was not
an outdoor kitty. Told him he should bring it home and he said no, go get it mom. He
tells me it reminded him of Lacey, a kitty we had many years ago when he was a child.
So I go get the kitty and bring her in and slowly let the girls sniff and see what happens.
Nothing! The girls were curious of course but no one flipped out. She's laid on the dog bed,
my bed, and now has a spot picked out on a shelf above the bed. Thats where I fed her
so she could enjoy a good meal stress free. She's very calm and very quiet but I know
she is still stressed out a little because her eyes are still glowing red, although she has
blue eyes and is of that long haired siamese variety with the white paws. She's very
sweet and loves to be held. She seems healthy but I'll get her to the vet after Christmas
and have her checked out for feline leukemia and get some shots. Have no idea if she
is spayed, probably not cause she's very young. But a spay is on the agenda for sure
and hopefully very soon before she goes into heat. Its obvious she is accustomed to dogs
because they had a dog too but didn't leave it, only the 4 months worth of poop in
the back yard. Needless to say I call her Lacey and she seems to be ok with that.
It was never my intentions to "get" a cat but guess this one sort of found me.
Poor thing, just burns me up that someone would leave it in an empty apt. I'll get
some pictures of her soon but for now she's getting accustomed to her new surroundings.

She sounds like a sweet little thing. So sad that people see animals as disposable pets.
I hope she continues to be a good fit into you family. :D

Aaahhh Ava, how sweet of you to save Lacey from being homeless and out in the world at the mercy of 'things'. As Paulette said, Merry Kitty Christmas! Take care of yourself, too.

Good for you giving this poor baby a home. It just burns me up that people think animals are disposable. When I've taken in a pet I've always considered it a lifetime commitment. I've made arrangements for my guys in case anything happens to me. I feel my life would be so much poorer without my guys.

she got to purrin tonight, she seems happy and she ate good but she is still holding her bladder,
I'm hoping she'll feel comfortable in the night to use her litter box and be curious and do some
snooping.
I do take care of myself in spite of working 7 days a week. I do my routine chores and take
time for myself playing games on the computer. It relaxes me. I also take the girls out
for walks on occasion, not far but its good for them to get out once in awhile

Welcome to the forum Miss Lacey. Sometimes animals are just sent to us.

Except when some of us fools drive to the next state to find them....... But Remi said he was and is worth it! Those silly Indiana rescue ladies didn't even know what they had.....

Ava, thanks for stepping up and doing what needed to be done for Lacey. Somehow animals who are rescued like she was always seem to know just how fortunate they are to have found someone who will care for them.

You've already heard how I feel about irresponsible pet owners. You brought tears to my eyes to read that on top of your list was a visit to the vet to get her checked out. God bless you for putting her needs ahead of other things you might have had in store for that pocketful of money.

You're my kind of people. :)

Yep, Ava, you did good. And Lacey is lucky to have you. And you're lucky to have her, too. Can't wait to see pics.

And Ava....I thought of you last night when I drove to the airport to pick up my son who flew in for Christmas. I watched the transit vans pull in and out fluidly as they made their circular passes around the the grounds and parking lots. You really have to be on your toes to weave in and out of that traffic patterns. I did think to my self.....Ava knows how to do that....and she does it well! I think it is always good to remember that all the people we meet are someone's dear family or friends.

Isn't it amazing how our critters find us? I would place a bet (not that I'm a betting person :D ) that a kitty wasn't on your bucket list of acquisitions, but seems that the great someone decided that she needed a home and you needed another lap warmer. I just love it when things go according to plan! Good job, Ava!
