I'm the lucky one in the house. The one that all the dogs want to "share" the bed with. Not one wants to "share" with my niece, even though the majority of the dogs are hers. Maybe she twitches, kicks or has too many rules that they don't wish to obey. Anyway, I constantly wake up with a stiff back from the puppies nuzzling up to me during the night. I have absolutely NO SPACE in my bed. The other night I turned over to awaken to the fact that my butt was hanging over the side of the bed. What's up with that? There are now NEW RULES that must be obeyed. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and purchased a body pillow. Said pillow now resides down the center of the bed and I have one side and the bed hogs, I mean puppies, have the other. After a stern lecture and explanation of the new rules, the last two nights were wonderful. I now have almost half the queen bed to myself. All three puppies stayed on their almost half all night. (Almost half because of the amount of space the pillow take up on the bed.) Why didn't I think of this sooner? Such an easy solution

Puppies???? Must have pictures. What kind of puppies?
Like the pillow idea; might try it with my dog. Problem is he wants his half crossways in the middle of the bed.

Sammie would probably hop right over the pillow. She burrows in between the two pillows and ends up with her butt in my face. At least I only have the one.

Boy can I relate HOWEVER both Buddy and Sophie MUST be touching me at all times. You know if they aren't right up against me I might sneak off in the middle of the night and do something interesting without them.

Karen, the reason I ended up with so little room is because they have to touch me also. So much so that I kept moving over to the edge of the bed.
Sarah, they aren't puppies anymore, I just call them that.
Mitch, there will b e NO pictures of my butt hanging off the bed. The puppies are FORBIDDEN from using the camera. Once they get the still pics down, they will want to video, then u-tube and the whole sordid thing will go viral. NO WAY

Herschel, stop reading right now. I will not explain what U-tube is! What are you grinning about. Where did you sent Remi off to with that camera. Come back, right now. And don't think that a silly grin and a wagging tail is going to cover your excesses. Where is that delete button? ..........

This was years and years ago, but my dog would cuddle up, and as I moved over, would follow me across the bed to stay in contact.
At one point, I rolled over, fell off the bed, landed face down and broke my nose.
Explaining how I broke my nose at the ER was probably the highlight of their night.

My Gus will soon be 13. I gave him to DH when he was only 8 weeks old (Gus, not DH). He worshiped Larry. I jokingly called him the hearing aid dog. DH was so hard of hearing that a truck could run through the house and he wouldn't know it over the tv. One night I came home from teaching an evening class and he couldn't wait to tell me how smart his dog was. "he stared at the phone so I picked it up and someone was on the phone!" I didn't have the heart to tell him that his dog wasn't as deaf as him.
Gus always slept with us and any time he thought we were getting a bit amorous he would go to the foot of the bed and sit with his back to us and pout loudly. So funny!
When DH was home with his brain tumor Gus guarded the bed in the livingroom and decided who got close or not. Since DH was a large man I had to forgo the regular hospital bed and brought in one of those queen sized electric beds which meant that I could lay beside him at night and hold him. The first time his sister tried to get in the bed beside her brother Gus climbed up between them, stretched out with his back against Larry and pushed her away with his feet. So funny! Eventually some folks learned he could be lured away with donuts which led to some weight problems for a little while.
So for now I am showing the house a lot and have erased evidence of a dog in the house. Gus stays with the Goddess and I really miss him. Funny how we get so attached to our fur babies.
