I saw something on a tv show about a leash or harness that keeps dog from pullling. Anybody used one?Pepper about pulls my arm out of the socket walking. Hes so excited to go somewhere and we go every day! Yes, hes been to school, I guess he slept thru that class!! He can sit and stay really well!

My big dog, Remi is about 80lbs. and likes to pull. The vet suggested the Halti and it works great for us. I think Liz uses a different kind, she'll probably post info on that too. There are several different kind. The Halti is not tight around them unless they pull. Remi knows when I get his leash it has the Halti on there and he keeps pushing his head between my hands, trying to put it on himself.

Here is a link to them on Amazon, but you can also get them at PetSmart and PetCo and probably other places like that.

I have seen bigger dogs wearing those and thought they were because the dog bites.
Huh! ;)

I don't remember the name of the one I used for Tips - looked more like the link Liz gave - didn't go around the face at all. Was soft so I knew it didn't hurt him when it put the pressure on - and he never minded it - and never pulled with it on. Like others said, he got so used to it that when I got it out, he'd step into it for me :)

I broke my Great Dane of that by abruptly doing an about turn with the heel command. A few times of being jerked off his feet and he got the idea.

There are several types of harnesses that work great to stop pulling - there's the Gentle Leader head collar & the Gentle Leader no-pull harness, I use the Yuppy Puppy no-pull harness for Molly & it's great - Four Paws also makes a no pull harness that's a big success.
You can find all of these at Petco.com and I'm sure you can also find them other places on line & at most pet stores.
There's also the "stop" method - when the dog pulls, just stop moving until he/she quits pulling and the leash relaxes - then you can start moving forward again - stop again as soon as they start pulling - it can take forever to get someplace, but it does help. I suppose if you said "no pull" or something like that it'd help too.
Good luck !

PetSmart trainer recommended the Gentle Leader for my dog. We haven't worked with it enough to give you a report on effectiveness but seems to be a good option.
