Fuzzy, warm bodies

Woke up this morning around 5am and the rig was really cold. It was in the 30's outside and I had left a window open. Was laying on my side with Buddy, under the covers, up against my back all warm and toasty. Sassy was on top of the covers in the crook of my legs all curled up. Sophie was under the covers plastered up against the front of me with her head tucked under my chin and one paw over my neck. I really felt cuddled and snuggled and WARM. Now I was stiff and wanted to stretch but could I disturb the puppies? Of course not. Guess its a good thing I'm not married - there just isn't room.

I do miss having a dog that cuddles. Peaches sleeps in her own space - except when she's scared. Then I wake up to her wrapped around my head. Sometimes I can figure out what happened (like when nuts/branches hit the roof because of squirrels or wind) but others, I never know what she heard. Just all of a sudden wake up to a dog wrapping around my face. I then need to make sure I have room somewhere for my nose, and I cuddle her and comfort her and we go back to sleep that way.

Karen, you probably don't need a comforter lol - you have fur - much warmer :)

They do make us warm and cozy. Radar has to be so close to me in bed that I think she was a tick in a previous life.

  Pixie and Gracie do the same thing, one behind my knees and one
at my belly, then I can't move for fear of disturbing them or worse, squishing
them cause their only 9 lbs each. 9 lbs heaters work great!

Last week I woke up at around 4 AM wanting to turn over. (I had all four puppies with me and was in my allotted space.) I was on my side and they were all lined up along my length, their butts against me. Reminded me of big rigs unloading at the loading dock. I started laughing and then the " she's awake " onslaught of happy puppies. We cuddled for awhile and went back to sleep and I even managed to acquire some much desired real estate on the bed. Linda

But that would have meant moving the dogs. A three-dog night for sure.

Sassy prefers the floor, but Tessa likes my bed. She loves to lay up nearthe top of the bed with her rump against my back. Talk about a heater. She is one HOT dog. And of course I have my allotted spot. Lately though she's been in her own bed and for the last two nights I've been able to snuggle under my covers and have the whole bed. Such luxury.
