Happy Hour

Postby retiredhappy » Fri Oct 15, 2010 6:25 pm

Sharon and I have our happy hour every evening and we found out that Sophie LOVES wine. She was begging so I held the glass down thinking she wouldn't like the taste. Well, as you can see, she laps it up.

Karen, you could get her a wine bottle collar and she could be our "rescue dog" around the campfire  Mitch, I found pictures of the kegs and collars for sale online, but I haven't the slightest idea how to transfer the pics or put them on Sophie (and they were on the big side for those St. Bernards). I sure needed that "teaching" time with you at the GTG. carold

Cute, but isn't wine poisonous to dogs? It's made from grapes and I know they are. Just sayin'....

Only large quantities of raisons or grapes Lenora. She only had a a couple laps and she is fine :) We won't make it a habit.

Son had a wolf hybrid once that would knock beer cans over so he could drink the beer...then he'd lay down, go to sleep and start snoring..just one of the guys! My horse liked beer, too, but can't say I've ever seen a dog that liked wine. 'Course it could just be a case of "if mom likes it, it must be good!" Yup, Vickie's right, she's really one of the girls now.

One of my cats is willing to try just about anything someone is eating. Sometimes all she wants is a taste and other times you have to fight her for your plate. I'll have to see if she likes wine.

Now Sharon,
You have met a dog that likes beer, wine and whiskey-- my Emma-- The stinker will beg for Jim to pour her out some beer and she gets after it. LOVES the taste of whiskey and wine too. She really gets bad and I have to put a stop to it with Jim for a few days. Guess it came from when she was a puppy and I was watching tv and Jim had to go to the bathroom and left his drink on the side table, not thinking about Emma on the couch. I guess she had drunk half of that drink before I heard her, and Jim likes his whiskey drinks kind of strong. She walked off the end of the couch, kaplop  Then couldn't walk a straight line coming over to me in the chair. You can bet we watched from then on. We never thought she would even like the taste. But she proved us wrong :D

All of our Bostons have loved beer! Tink was the worse...if someone would sit a beer can down on the patio she'd knock it over to get the contents....she got a little tipsy on us a couple of times.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.
