Cocoa garden mulch = TOXIC

A friend sent me this as an email. For those of you who have gardens, beware.

Hi All,
Just returned from a routine visit to the vet and saw an article about Sunshine cocoa shell garden mulch. There is no pet warning on the bag, but their website says it is highly toxic to both dogs and cats.

The vet is asking everyone to spread the word about this mulch which is sold at Target, Home Depot and other garden supply stores. The mulch smells like chocolate and really attracts dogs. Death can be quite sudden.

You may have already heard of this, but just to be on the safe side, am passing this info on.

I don't do yard work or garden, have a black thumb, but thanks for the info and will pass it on. Pretty scary!

I was just wondering if it smells like chocolate, is it toxic to humans?
Seriously, I've never heard or seen this, but makes sense that it would attract the animals and would be something to avoid.

I heard about this, too. I had thought they were a good natural mulch that wouldn't deplete our forests ... but it is toxic for our pets.
