Marymac and I went into town for dinner. I ordered prime rib, something I NEVER cook for myself. Ate half and took the other half home for dinner tonight. When Mary left I walked her outside to say goodbye. Came back in to see Sophie, who had gotten up on the dinette and then the stove top where I had put the prime rib, eating as fast as she could while my other two angels were laying on the bed watching her. I managed to get about half of what I had brought home away from her and divided it up between Sassy and Buddy. Oh well, that much meat probably isn't good for me anyway. When will I learn that she can get up on the counter? Sassy and Buddy never did that - the table was fair game for Sassy, however.

Tee Hee! Sophie, you go girl! Seems like those little ones know how to get into stuff worse than the big ones! Chewy figured out how to get on the kitchen counter by climbing on the back of the couch and hopping onto the counter...found out when she chewed up an avacado when I was gone one day. Blocked her by putting the coffee maker in the corner of the counter, so she climbed up on the pillows on the arm of the couch. Found out she could do that when I came back and she had helped herself to an apple. So now when I leave, coffee maker goes in the corner, pillows are moved and so far she hasn't been able to get up there. What a gal!

Strange ! I have never heard of a dog eating fruit before! Do you feed her enough dog food??

All of my dogs have eaten fruit and vegetables..guess 'cause they've had them since they were babies and didn't know any better! Had a German Shephard that loved strawberries and tomatoes so much we had to put them in the back half acre 'cause she would rob the garden and eat until she was sick. She would sit and cry for cantalope. Chewy loves most fruit except for bananas, and quite a few vegetables, her favorite being green beans, but she loves broccoli and carrots, too. And yes, she gets enough dog food, the other stuff she considers treats. LOL! She gets rid of the cooked carrots in the house 'cause I won't touch the nasty things. Seems they put them in everything that's pre-prepared...soup, frozen dinners, everything! As Soos says "ACKK!"

Sophie was in puppy heaven for a minute there - and I bet she doesn't even feel guilty about it.

Sharon, I've usually had dogs that like fruits and vegies, too. When I had Tips - he would beg whenever I was cutting up fresh vegies. Of course, I always gave him some. And everyone was amazed that he thought they were so good. Some better than others. Oh, his begging - was sitting next to me - his nose was at counter height, and just watching - carefully - hoping something would drop.

With Sassy there is no 7 second rule - if it's falling to the floor its her's. The way I give her pills is to toss them in the air and she grabs and swallows then looks at me as if to say, "What was that?" Buddy is my only well behaved one. His method of begging is to sit and look at you so sadly - "Oh, poor me!" And No, Sophie did NOT feel a bit guilty. It was my fault cause I was dumb enough to leave it on the stovetop.

sorry to laugh but I've done the same thing. Bandit is the one that taught me
to keep all food stuff put away. He stole many a loaf of bread off the counter.

Oh you certainly can't stay mad at that face for what - no more than 5 seconds. Then you just have to laugh!

Shortly after I adopted Monty he got into the kitchen garbage can. I shamed him so much that he never did it again. That's when I found out that his greatest desire is to please me and he only does something I disapprove of once.
He likes veggies and bananas. Doesn't care much for apples.

Karen, just think of it as Sophie training you. Now you won't leave the food out on the counter. My puppies all eat fruit and veggies. Different ones for different puppies, All but citrus. (They made such cute sour faces after tasting grapefruit.) All but one of my dogs are small, so they can't reach the counter nor is there a way for them to get to it. Linda
