Meet Lucky Lulu

Yesterday I saw two dogs running loose in the park. I went outside and the brown one ran off towards Junction Highway but this little lady came up, sat down and looked at me. At first I thought she was a puppy but shes obviously had puppies. I walked round a little with her trying to find out if anyone had seen where they came from. She happily followed me and no one saw where they came from. I thought I'd have no choice but to call animal control to pick her up and she'd be dead in three days. Then Phyllis, a lady who lives inone of the park models here and had recently had to put her longtime pet to sleep, came out to see what was going on. Well it was love at first sight. This little girl is just as sweet as her face shows and wants nothing more than to be right next to a human and get her belly rubbed. The following picture is of her on the sofa. She slept for two hours, drank a little water and slept for another two hours. She had no collar but seems well trained. Phyllis is going to check the paper for a lost dog ad but is already planninfg on having her fixed. I said I would go halves with her on the vet bill. Buddy and Sassy are just lucky they don't have a little sister to put up with. This is one of the sweetest (not counting mine) dogs I've ever met.

The sad ending is that a little later when I left to go to Walmart the other brown dog had been hit and killed on the highway thus how Lucky Lulu got her name.

What a cute dog! And she is lucky! So sorry to hear about her companion, tho. Apparently he wasn't so friendly and social and unfortunately ran away right into trouble. I too love how everyone on here are such animal lovers! Everyone I work with (at both jobs) doesn't care for animals so I don't feel welcome to talk about mine around them.

Good job Karen, way to go!!!! How awesome that you helped LuLu to find a new home so fast. And yep she looks to be a sweetie! Those big droopy eyes really get to ya.

So sad about the other dog. Every time I see someones pet that has been killed in the road, I feel like it should be the owner instead. grrrr

What a sweet face she has. That poor brown doggie, makes me sad. Reminds me of how we got Remi, he was on the side of a highway sitting by his little sister that had just gotten hit. We checked all the houses in the area to make sure they didn't belong to someone and brought him home, he stayed snuggled up between my feet the whole way home. Took him to the vet the next day and they said he was about 8 weeks old and he's been ours ever since. Thanks to you, Karen, Lulu is indeed a Lucky Lady!

Do you remember this story? In the news not too long ago, two dogs were wandering on a highway, and one of them got hit and killed, so the other one actually dragged his buddy off the highway into the ditch! There was video of it and it just broke your heart! Dogs are so loyal to each other!

what an adorable face, she looks like she could have a little boxer in her even
though she's black and white, they do come in a variety of colors these days,
but most likely she has some pit in her as well. She sure is a cutie and very
lucky indeed to have found you to help her out. Lost dogs just break my heart.

Ooh, she does have a puppy face! I just knew when I saw her you had adopted her. Glad to hear she found a good home without you having to. Good work.

LUCKY LUCKY Lulu to have come across you! What a wonderful story, even though her companion met an untimely death on the highway----she will bring love and joy to that woman desperately needing a furry companion to hug and nestle with!

It makes me wonder what on earth happened to all her puppies.....I hate to even contemplate that.

Yes, Barbie-----the women on here sure do have a love of four-footers of all kinds and sizes and shapes, and we love to share stories about them. I am very glad your new Mocha kitty didn't hurt your little Buster very badly. It will probably take a few 'close calls' before all the 4-footers come to an agreement and peace treaty!

And, Janice, I was happy to read that Bandit finally found his appetite today. I know what that feels like, when a usually very eager eater turns up his nose at food. Scary and worrisome, for sure. Hug that little guy as often as you can!
