Nicky had a guest
Posted: Sat Jan 02, 2010 12:21 pmI may have spent most of Christmas holiday without human company, but Nicky had his first ever guest. Her name is Lizzie and she stayed with us while her human went to New Orleans for the holidays. This is a major milestone as he was very defensive around other dogs when he first came to live with me. Thankfully he has mellowed a lot.
Three years of drought followed by a year of flooding rains have left the fenced area of my yard without grass - think mud to be tracked in by furry little feet. I got 5 bales of straw just before guest arrived and spread a very thick layer across yard. They had a ball playing in it.
And there were constant chipmunk hunts, especially in the drain pipes (they actually trapped one in a pipe then proceeded to try to dig up the pipe - that was a mess).
Nicky has plenty of toys but never plays with them. Lizzie got into the toys, then he became interested. Thought she might have succeeded in teaching him to play but since she left, he is ignoring the toys again.
They did keep me entertained over the holidays. Nicky is to stay with Lizzie and her human while I'm gone to FL next week.
