Awww ... you all are precious. :)

I just got back from the RVW Convention in San Antonio, so seeing Jed after 7 days was a good way to evaluate his progress. He's looking great, but it's obvious that he's on drugs. He just seems to move in slow motion. He's got a vet appointment on Tuesday for x-rays (to check for pneumonia) and bloodwork (to check his phenobarb levels). The neurologist will evaluate him, and my hope is that she'll cut back on his meds so he's not so sluggish. I think it's really a kind of dance, trying to give him the least amount of medicine possible to keep him from having seizures, but not so much that it affects his quality of life.

On the insurance front, I'm not feeling very excited about the response I'm getting from the claims adjustor. She's really dragging her feet, but now that I'm home I'll be able to be more diligent about persuing the whole thing. I've gotten an estimate on how much his long-term care will cost -- upwards of $2000 -- so that will be part of the claim, too. Please pray that this doesn't become antagonistic, as I don't want to involve a lawyer.

I keep you all posted on both fronts. Keep your fingers crossed for us ...

Thanks again.

My prayers for Jed's full recovery and a hassle-free settlement from the insurance company. I keep looking at that pic of Jed in the water in your avatar...he's such a beautiful dog.

I'm so glad to know that Jed survived all of this. Hopefully the right amount of meds will get resolved and he won't be so sluggish.

Insurance companies can be so difficult. We pay and pay and then when we need them so often they drag their feet at a time when we really need some reassurance.

Sending lots of good thoughts to you and Jed from me and Jenjen.

I don't relish what you are going through with the insurance claim. Don't get me started on insurances!! :x
I will continue to keep you both uplifed in prayer that this all resolves itself to a happy ending. Hugs!

Sometimes all it takes is a letter from a lawyer to get results from a reluctant insurance co.

Awww ... thanks for asking! I'm always willing to talk about my "main man"! :)

Jed is just dandy. He's as healthy as he's ever been and suffering no ill after-effects from his unfortunate experience. He'll be on phenobarbital for another 2 months and then be gradually weaned off. Once that happens we'll put the whole miserable experience behind us and look forward to an incredible summer of camping all over the West.

I'll have to get the camera out and take a picture of him in his great new collar. A few years ago I stumbled across a website called "Cozy Critters", and they make all sorts of wonderful collars. Jed has one for every month, I think. It's my only concession to dressing him up. No "foofy" collars -- they must be manly, but colorful. The one he's wearing right now has a black background with dog bones in different colors -- very colorful & stands out wonderfully on his blonde coat. I also got him a blue & green plaid collar and one that has multi-colored Kokopelis on a black background. Check them out online. For those of you who enjoy giving your critters a bit of panache they're great!

So, there's the long version answer to a wonderfully caring question! Thanks again!

Oh my word! Had no idea my handsome man Jed was ill. :( Tried to find the particulars about the need for his recovery and saw he was poisoned??
My heart dropped to my toes. :( I am sooooooooo glad he is back on the mend and so so glad insurance is taking care of this. What an ordeal for the both of you. So so sorry for not being in better touch to lend my support and prayers, but you can betcha you'll both be in them for continued healing. Big {HUGS} to you both. <3
