Dd #2 Westin hates riding in the car. Don’t know why motion sickness popped in my mind thus morning, search and it is common in dogs. I have had motion sickness my whole life and ginger capsules was the treatment that worked for me. Don’t know if it would help Luca or what dose. Any suggestions?

I had one dog with motion sickness. She threw up about 20 minute into any ride. I learned to skip her breakfast on mornings I knew we'd have a ride and have her Dramamine about 1/2 am hour before the drive. That made her sleepy and she would lay right down and sleep through the trip. Funny that she must have realized it because I forgot the Dramamine one trip and she got in the car and immediately laid down and slept. Never needed it again.

Emma got carsick a couple of times as a puppy. I got her a raised car seat where she can look out the window and that solved the problem. Now as soon as I start the car she hops in her carseat and if we are on the highway she just curls up and goes to sleep. Not sure if she just outgrew it quickly or if the carseat helped. I like her seatbelted in the back so this works out great.

Lark is not a fan of car riding but has never actually thrown up. I have found that she is much happier riding in a crate or anywhere down low where she can not see out the windows. She apparently discovered what works for her. She is now happy to go for a ride because she likes the places we go and the people and activities she gets to do and see. Even a quick ride to a store (that allows dogs) might mean that she might meet some children that what to talk and pet her. That is all that make the trips worth it for her. Early experiences with positive adventures often help pups outgrow their fears and make symptoms less stressful..... Each dog is different and might take some experimentation and observation to determine what works best.

Luca has a car seat, it didn’t help. He starts shaking when they get near the car. Dad wants to drive to Florida and take Luca. Before buying tv U took several bus trips an it was torture take Framine. Ginger was an easy and safe solution. I’m not sure motion sickness is the problem. As Tina said more observation I’d needed. I just saw this post so hopefully you have found something by now but if not, this is what works for my dogs. Dramamine the 24 hour non drowsy type. Give at least 1/2 hour before ride. No more drooling or sickness. Check with your vet as to how much. They may suggest an expensive one but this really works well.
