Since I've been posting about my fosters, I thought I'd share their pics & stories with you all. Yoo might remember Eli. This is his before pic.

He is a wonderful happy goof ball! We still have Eli b/c we both love him & haven't really tried to hard to find him a home. I do need to find his forever home before next fall.

Phoenix & Mitzi came to me from MO. They were being fostered there thru the MO animal shelter. These 2 girls were part of 973 dogs taken in a puppy mill bust in W VA. Here is a link to their rescue story. Mitzi is on page 18 being carried out in a crate. http://www.hsop.org/puppymill/rescue_story.pdf
This is Phoenix

Phoenix has an application pending on her. She has a chance to have a fantastic home. We are keeping our fingers crossed!

And this is Mitzi. She has mammary cancer. She already had one surgery to remove a tumor which was malignant. She is having a radical mastectomy. Her first surgery is Monday. Please keep her in your thoughts. We have a page on my rescue's website if you'd like to read about her condition. http://www.crestedguardians.org/sponsor.htm

Mitzi has an application pending for her also. She can't be placed til after she heals from both of her surgeries so it will be a while yet. Thanks for looking at my foster babies! :D

Awwwwwwwwwww! You don't need to thank any of us for looking - we need to thank you for sharing with us. What wonderful little darlings - and how wonderful you are for doing what you do. Fostering is not easy - ever - because you do fall in love with every one of them.

I used to bring lots of the senior dogs home with me for a week or so at a time while we had them up for adoption - as the seniors were harder to place, and handled the shelter even less well that young dogs. Every time it was hard to return them - and I only kept them a week or so each time (although one senior came back home with me several times before finding a forever home).

Good for you! And I'm glad you're sharing their pics and stories. They are so adorable, and you bet Mitzi is in my prayers.

Yes, they are. Some Crested's, like most toy breeds, can be snippy with children, but all 3 of these are good with kids. In fact Eli loves kids!

No way could I foster as I would never be able to give them up. That's why I have 5 cats that had been thrown away (My home is a magnet for strays). Just can't help myself.

What great little dogs. They are mighty lucky to have you.
Don't think I'd be good at fostering either; would be over run with animals in no time. I just get too attached too quickly.

Oh, they are beautiful. Do you shave off that downy hair in the "before" picture? I agree, it would be sooo hard to give up those precious cresteds. I hope Mitzi pulls through. She and Phoenix have been through enough at those #@!$&% puppy mills. (Grrrrr)

Yes, I do shave some of them. Chinese Cresteds are a weird breed, not just cuz they look like Dr Suess characters  , but the hairless ones have different degrees of body hair. Eli & Mitzi are hairy hairless, and Phoenix is a true hairless. I clip the body & face on Eli & Mitzi every couple of weeks, I have never clipped Phoenix. If you have ever seen them in dog shows, they ones with all the beautiful hair on their crest, tail & socks are hairy hairless. It doesn't take long to clip them, I use a beard trimmer I bought at Walmart.

And I have wonderful news! I have adoption applications on both girls!!! Our rescue requires a home visit before we place a dog, so if the home visits go well Phoenix & Mitzi may both have homes. Mitzi still has to stay with me a while, as she has one more surgery to go thru. Then hopefully she'll be healthy and have a forever home waiting for her. :D I don't know why Eli hasn't been adopted? He is so cute and such a good boy. But that may change soon. I'll do another post about Eli on Exhibit. ;) :D

Thanks for your comments and interest in my kiddos!

I'm so happy for the girls, finding their forever homes. I know they'll miss you as much as you'll miss them - but the forever homes will fill their hearts quickly. Now, I hope, like you do, that Eli soon gets his forever home, also. But I'm so grateful he has you until that time.

They sure are adorable doggies. So glad you have fostered them and that they are going to get new homes. Eli was my favorite - he should get a new home too soon. He is adorable.

I am so excited for your little foster pups! They are certainly unique little creatures, and I am sure will make someone so happy! I can't imagine having to give them up, however. I can remember how hard it was to give up a litter of pups my dog had when I was in OR....I cried with each one who went out the door! Most of the adopters sent me pics of them for years afterwards as they were so sorry to see what it did to me to give them up!

I think Eli is my favorite, too! Here's hoping he gets a really super forever home.
