Just found this out. A tick bite can cause it.
Also:

What are the signs seen with macadamia nut toxicity?
Clinical signs usually develop within 12 hours after ingestion. The most common presenting sign is weakness and inability to walk, especially in the hind legs.

Saw the report on Macadamias and other item. Sadly the vet said dogs are euthanized by vets who don't know about the macadamia thing and don't know they can recover. So many things we did not know as I grew up feeding our dogs all sorts of stuff.

Ticks can be very harmful but what is even sadder is a lot of stuff sold to "protect" your pet can be almost as harmful as the tick.

So true. Dogs are becoming like a lot of people --over medicated. Ticks are a bad problem seems like everywhere no but no one wants to do the obvious and manage the population. I keep thinking instead of letting so many deer die from wasting disease and other herd problems that they could start providing venison to food pantries.
