The "Foot" dog

Most of you know I have two smaller dogs; Sophie who is 30 lbs, not much hair and shivers easily and Baxter, 20 lbs and much hairier. Sophie has always slept under the covers with me. I am a side sleeper and she lays on her side with her back plastered up against me. This way I can drape my arm over her and continuously rub her belly. In her opinion I was placed on this earth to rub her belly and of course, feed her.

When I got Baxter a year ago, he was a normal dog that I don't think had ever slept on a bed. He learned quickly and started sleeping on the bed, usually on top of the covers at the foot of the bed where I could put my perpetually cold feet up against his little hairy body.

Well, apparently Sophie has been counseling him and he now sleeps under the covers. He started sleeping plastered up against my back which was fine. I now had a warm front and a warm back. Lately he's decided "his" spot to to squirm his way between Sophie and I so there is no chance that any of his body will be bothered by any possible cold air that might find its way under the covers. Oh well, I'm nice and warm EXCEPT FOR MY FEET.

What do I do? Go to the SPCA and get anothe little dog to sleep at the foot of the bed, either on or under the covers? BUT what if this dogs decides "his or her" spot is against my back? The next one I fetch home decides "his/her" spot is curled up behind my knees. Do I just keep adding dogs until someone finally sleeps at the foot where I can jam my feet up against their warm, hairy body??????Oh, the dilemma!!

WAIT! I've got it. Go to rig and get heating pad. Turn on low and put under covers at foot of bed. Ahhhhh, I now have a warm place for my feet. Dogs go to bed; I go to brush my teeth and return to find, YOU GOT IT, one the dogs is blissfully curled up, sound asleep and smiling on my heating pad. Oh well, I'll just put my feet up against dog but he growls at me for disturbing his space.

I'm stopped from acquiring a pack of dogs because my mobile home park only allows two per site and I'm not sure I could afford to feed a pack let alone keep them well dressed.

Now please don't anyone tell me to go get a husband for the foot warming. First of all, there's NO room in my bed and people tell me they object to sleeping on the floor or in "their own little bed."

Signed,

Perpetually cold feet.

Actually you are lucky. Nicky has decided his spot is cross ways in the middle of the bed.

Whew! For a minute there I thought you'd gotten another dog. :D Olive just told me that she's really looking forward to seeing her friends Sophie and Baxter on Monday. I am looking forward to seeing all three of you. Cute story.

Too funny! I've never let the dogs in my bed, but Sadie keeps hinting how nice it would be - putting her paws & sweet face next to mine. I'm trying to be strong, but she is so dog-gone sweet. ;) I never thought of the advantages of having a bed warmer. :D

Having cold feet is a small price to pay for having two dogs that love you and think you hung the moon.

p.s. We won't tell them you've been complaining about them.

Cute story Karen! One of my daughter's dogs, Rocky, has been living with me off and on. He's perfectly comfy curled up snoring on my bed. Doesn't get under the covers though. Rags is comfy in his own bed.

Almost thought you were spying on Zorro & me  Molly on the other hand is happiest on a cold tile floor.

Gotta love the furkids for their different personalities <3
