Say a little prayer for Sambo

My Dad is in CA right now for the week. His neighbor was checking on his little Miniature Schnauzer, Sambo (Samuel Beaux of Calcasieu). Monday the neighbor noticed that Sambo didn't bark at him as he made his rounds on the golf cart so he went to check on him. He was covered with blood and was exhausted. The neighbor cleaned up the blood on the floor, then walked around more and saw blood splattered everywhere on the enclosed porch, even half way up the wall at one spot. He called my sister and I and we went over to see what was going on. Lots of blood, but could only see one scratch on Sambo's nose. When we put him in the tub, he spit out two pieces of bone, too big to be one of his, so we figured he must have ate whatever it was he killed. We couldn't find any animal prints or parts anywhere on the porch. Sambo didn't seem to be hurt anywhere, but my sister took him to her house to keep an eye on him.
I took him yesterday and had him groomed so we could check better for any scratches or injuries and he was fine. He drank lots of water and even ate food and played with the grandkids. He pee'd a lot, but never pooped. Today my sister left for work about 9 and niece went over around 11 and found Sambo with blood in the kennel and something strange hanging from the side of his mouth. I took him to the vet because I pulled a little on whatever it was hanging there, but wasn't sure if it was matted in his whiskers or coming out the side of his mouth. Plus I figured it didn't matter if it was poop or whatever end it came out of, if it was bloody, it wasn't good. They x-rayed him and there were no animal bones or anything unusual inside, so on a hunch, they ran blood work. His red and white blood counts were off the chart, high and low (can't remember which was which) & kidney problems. What we think happened, was that he killed a rat that had poison in it. I went to Daddy's and checked around, there was some rat poisoning behind an old fridge, it was blocked off on both sides, so we know Sambo didn't get to it.
The Vet said it does not look good at all. They are giving him fluids and K-something and may give him a blood transfusion. I talked to Daddy and let him know what was happening and will check with the Vet this afternoon and in the morning to see how he's doing, but I would appreciate any prayers and healing thoughts you would offer. Sambo was my Momma's dog before she died, just makes it harder...
