More hugs and prayers for both of you plus much love to give you strength. I too am crying with you. Know that all the good memories of the wonderful shared adventures will eventually bring you comfort and smiles.

Predinsone might help Roe's breathing, but it's also going to make him hungrier and thirstier -- and need to potty more often. Hopefully you'll be able to manage that need without too much trauma to either of you.

Thank you Laura. The vet didn't warn me about that, but I have already noticed. The pottying is the hardest to manage/watch right now. Poor thing fell on his face trying to squat. That must be sooo humiliating. The ramp you suggested is working out well. The lift-aid/stomach sling...not so much.

Such sad news to hear. I know that all of us who have had the opportunity to meet Roe in person or seen him through your posts know what a sweet boy he is. It's hard, I still miss my Remi. Hugs & prayers for you, Roe & Bandit.

I just wish I could be down there with you at this difficult time. Being alone, and making that last heart-wrenching decision by one's self is almost impossible. I have done it too many times to list, and it's one of life's happenings which does not hold true to the "practice makes perfect or easier" quote. Enjoy every second that Roe is able to breathe and love you back, and hold him closely and calmly when he has to take that last Earth breath. I know that your faith is very strong, and I am hoping that will give you the strength you need. I have an offer for you, which I will mention in a private message, that you might wish to consider. Suffice it to say it would mean you would always know where Roe's physical remains were, and he would rest in the company of some of the finest animal souls I have ever had the privilege of sharing my life with. Some day, he and Molly would be vying for being the leader again on the Adirondack trails they both loved.

Big hugs to both of you. Roe has captured my heart, too, and I cry along with all those who know him.

nothing else to say except to agree with what all of the other girls said. Big hugs for all three of you. It's so hard to let go of them, but I know how compassionate you are and will make the right decision for the big guy.
