Not sure what's up with Choco, my pug. Started yesterday. I was on the computer and he was in the armchair in the corner of the room staring at the blank wall! I asked what he was looking at and he then looked like he followed someone across the room!
Today he's acting like he does after a couple days of hearing fireworks. All scared, tail tucked between his legs, staring off in space and he does't want to jump up on my lap, almost acts like he's afraid of me. His nose is cold and wet, doesn't make any hurt sounds when I probe his tummy etc. Kinda off his feed tho. I took him for a walk and he didn't go far and wanted to come home. Not like him at all.
I'm at a loss!

awww, poor little Choco, go have his eyes checked, he could have been seeing "floaters"
in his eye ball fluid. That happened to my grandmother (rip) for many years before she
was blinded in her old age. My little Pixie is blind and when I see her bump into things,
it just breaks my heart but she too gets scared and shaky now in these new surroundings
and doesn't go far away from me when we go out in the yard.

Could be one of two things....you have a visitor that only Choco can see or he's having seizures. I know right after my DH passed, every once in a while my daughter's dog would go and hide his face in the corner, tuck his tail and shake. This is how he acted when DH was alive and would go over there. The reason? Seems CJ tried to bite DH in the butt when he was about a year old and DH turned around and yelled at him "if you ever bite me, you SOB, I'll get my gun and shoot your sorry azz". CJ took it to heart. When CJ would act like that, my GD, who was 18 months old would point to a spot and say "poppa" which is what she called her grampa. Sooo, could be your sister is keeping watch over you, and if she is, how great is that? Dogs and babies sense a lot more than we do.

I had a cat who could see a spirit I had hanging around my apartment. Totally freaked her out (and me too). I finally did a sage smudging ceremony and got rid of it (the ghost, not the cat!).

Might want to check him out with the vet too, in case there is something physical going on.

(and knowing me - it's be first thing in the morning.)

Sorry your baby isn't feeling well. It's scary when they act so "off"
I'd take him to the Vet too - if nothing is wrong, great ! if something is wrong, you'll thank yourself for going. If you do nothing you'll kick yourself in the butt forever !
Maybe there's something in the "air" that's scaring him ? A high pitch sound that you can't hear ?
Could be lots of things or nothing at all.

No, it was on low and the reaction was still horrible. I tried it again and she still reacted badly. I did pull one from the trash, but I completely removed the battery, as I don't trust the darn thing. I just show it to Abby - that shuts her up!

Glad to hear that he is doing better and back himself.....but do watch....for all the reasons listed.....if there is a deteriorating brain/neural situation you want to catch is as early as you can.....

Glad he is better but if it happens again give him an aspirin and get him to a vet.
