Speaking as one whose ears hurt at certain sounds - especially with my hearing loss - to the extent where I was going bonkers the other night to a noise at Amazon - had to tun off my hearing aids and cover my ears - it kind of scares me to think we're doing something similar to the dogs with the Bark Off. I'm glad it's working - but hope that it's not as major to them as certain noises are to me. I can understand that dog that BJ showed the review about. When does the Bark Off emit the sound? How does it know to only do it when the dog barks? Can other noises set it off? I'm just curious? And if we can't hear it - I would worry that it's only emitting the sound when it's supposed to.
It reminds me of when I tried a collar on Tips and Moxie to teach them to stay within certain boundaries. Moxie acted like I was killing her. Tips stopped dead, looked at me, shook from head to toe, then ran right through it. On the other side, he rolled over, then ran off like, hey, I don't like that, but you aint' gonna stop me now. Moxie wouldn't come near me for several hours. I know I wouldn't like to be shocked, so never used it again. Many others use similar systems today - and love them.
Not telling anyone not to use it - just to think about it. And, I agree with Liz, if they have one with a light, and someone knows about it - please post a link to it.
