It is very unwise to leave a baby in the backyard for two hours every morning. I better stick to dogs.

Never give up! We're just havin' fun ... Just think though, if we couldn't potty train dogs till they were two? Imagine those first two years? I don't think anyone would ever get a puppy again :)

Just got back and so glad to hear things are going better. Sometimes all it takes is to have a HUGE amount of patience and keep trying various things until something works.

Karen, can't wait to hear all about your trip. Of course you took pictures...
Scarlett is doing better. This evening I had the door open and she went out all by herself to potty. No sneaking into a corner. Yay!

Now that's real progress!

Just remember Beth that a 6-month-old dog is the equivalent of 10 human years. So when you train a puppy of 12-15 weeks, it's pretty close to 2 human years. So in human years, you ARE training them when they're two (you just got there faster). :)

Your dog ages faster than mine :) I actually do like that they now show different dogs at different ages - I remember when it was 7 years to the human 1 year. I like the Pedigree calculator - but must say I'm extremely happy that both my last two dogs lived way beyond what it called senior for them.

If anyone wants to play with it: http://www.pedigree.com/All-Things-Dog/ ... fault.aspx

Used the link, Beth and Maggie is the equivalent of 76 human years which is what I would have estimated. She is still pretty spry for an older gal and like Peaches, she has her own strong opinions.

Glad I checked back with this thread. Scarlett is 24 and Olive is 36. Makes me think of them in a new way. Scarlett is doing very well since we started our new routine. I don't give her much chance to get in trouble, use only positive feedback and stick to as consistent a schedule as possible. She really likes tinkling for treats! Thank you to everyone for the great advice. I do so love this little dog.
