just too neat to keep to myself!

T. Coleman du Pont's autocamper in 1911.

The car itself had a mattress stuffed with horsehair, a cook stove and ice box, storage space, and side curtains. The silk tents attached to the sides were for extra sleeping room when needed.

Du Pont funded the first paved highway in Delaware.

I'm getting such a kick out of this photo! :D

I am liking the spare tires up on the roof. They would have been important spare parts in those days.... :)

Tina, are those spare tires or suitcases? Looks like could be either. You are right, spare parts were really important back then.
