The Land Dinghy...

Because it's way too small to be a land yacht!!!

It's a Sportsmen Classic 16BH made by KZ. It came with a pair of bunks, but we had the top bunk cut back to provide a deep shelf where I keep the linens.

I plan on reworking the front of the shelf area to make it a little nicer looking, maybe using a cargo net rather than bungees, and painting the 2x2's that are the bungee frame.

I've done several other mods, including building a new table because the old one was just too tight to get into the street side banquette:

Another big mod is that we upgraded the 5000 BTU A/C to a 6500 BTU one. This was as big as we could go in the space without major re-engineering. And with the TX summers, especially one like 2011, we need all the A/C we can get. The flip side is we haven't used the furnace yet. We have a small ceramic heater that has done the trick so far and we haven't done any dry-camping.

The one down side to the Land Dinghy is she has a teeny weeny bladder - my tanks are really small in her. Hasn't been too much of a problem so far, but I think it may be an issue with my week-long camping trip in March.

Fun trailer. Really like the mod to the bunk. Now your bed is a bed/sofa combo which is so much more usable. Nice.

I like what you've done with the place.
Whoever did the top bunk redo did a wonderful job.
Very nice!

Love it. Especially love that mod on the top bunk. I put a door on a cabinet - but for that, you might just want to put up a rod and get a curtain. Just think - you could get all kinds of neat curtains and switch them out by mood. Just a thought.

Thanks for sharing - and I hope to see it in person one day!

I LOVE your little trailer. What do you tow it with?

We have a 16' Fun Finder - same size as yours.
Here's a pic of what we did with our heavy table - totally got rid of it.
Then my husband made 4 planks (you can see them below the rug) to replace the table when configured for a bed.
For mealtime, we use those small collapsible aluminum tables.

Aren't mods fun...

You've got such a neat trailer and made it so you! The mod on the table is a great idea!

Mitch, I love your plank idea. That really works well. DBF asked if I wanted to get rid of the table completely since we do most of our living outside, but I still take the trailer out occasionally to get away from it all so I can study. For now, we will keep the table. But I will keep your mod in the back of my mind.

And I tow it with a 10 year old Ford F-150 supercrew. That way the dogs are inside in the back seat area, with the seat folded down.

Disregard my plea in the morning coffee post! I didn't realize you had posted these neat pics already! This is a CUTE little trailer, and seems to be perfect for camping and hauling! I love how you have modified it, too. Making the space what you use and need is half the fun of buying an RV, I have decided. Thanks for the pics!

I really like the TT and the mods you have done. I had my SIL make me a new smaller tabletop for the same reason you modified yours.

What a great TT; excellent job on the mods you've made.
Like yours too, Mitch.

I like what you have done with your land dingy.

I have a truck camper and have really tiny tanks. Bet mine are smaller than yours. OK, I'll try and grow up. :D You can stretch usage by dumping some dish water into the toilet. I have a wet bath so am able to collect water in a tub while showering and then dump that in the toilet too. If only one person is traveling, the black tank obviously doesn't fill as fast. When traveling I also dump more often. It can be done without too much effort. Linda

love your little trailer..
i had the 16ft Jayco feather light.. it also had a bunks in it.. very closterfobic feeling.. i never thought to leave part of it like you did for shelves... I of course had traded it for a bigger trailer....
