Hopefully you are seeing Seeker parked in brother's front yard near his workshop.

And here is big brother ripping out carpet. Of course my job was next: pulling out hundreds/thousands of staples and vacuuming!

And just to provide a little renovation humor: my brother's neighbor has a pet goat named Annie. Seems Annie has figured out the gate latch mechanism. Mike and I were working away when some movement outside the window caught my eye. There was Annie in the front yard grazing on roses and looking in the window to see what we might have for dessert. All work stopped while we took Annie home and visited with the guy next week. Then back to work!

Vickie,
That's great to have brother Mike help you with that renovation. Looking forward nearly as much as you to seeing the finished product. Did your carpet go under the sofa bed? If it did, did you take that up too? If so, how did you get the sofa up so you could get the carpet out? That is the only thing holding me back at this point.

Thanks for sharing with us.

The carpet is still on the platform that the sofa rides on, but my sofa is bolted on to the platform and could be taken off by removing the bolts. The platform rides on the slide and he removed the carpet up to the slide. That's where the vinyl and carpet will meet, but it's pretty much out of sight under the sofa. The wardrobe is also part of the slide and I told him to leave that carpet alone. That's an area that is seldom walked on and seldom has anything in front of it since the drawers of the wardrobe open there. It doesn't tend to get very dirty and the area is of a size that matches up to small throw rugs. But if that's all the beige carpet that I have to deal with now I'm really happy. Linda and I shopped for a slipcover today for the sofa but didn't find what I wanted. Why are all the slipcovers a solid color? I don't want a dark solid because that doesn't alleviate the problem of dog hair showing. And a lighter color will hide the dog hair better but will show dirt sooner which means laundry and several of the ones I looked at said NO TUMBLE DRY which would be difficult to deal with on the road. Still haven't figured out what to do there.

My vinyl flooring has some staining and I would love to remove most of my carpeting and replace both. I spoke to a flooring salesman and he said that RVs are very difficult to replace flooring. I am really anxious to hear about your experience and see your final results.

Try here, I got one for my sofa and it's washable and dryable.

After seeing a blanket as a cover on someone's sofa, that's what I do. It's great and every other week it gets thrown in the laundry. In between I brush or shake the dog hair's off. I actually got 2 of them and can change them out. Am wishing I got 2 different colors - could have changed the look so easily. And you can choose almost any color or pattern that there are blankets. I simply got inexpensive soft blankets from Walmart. And I have a different colored throw that usually sits over the back of the couch which does give some color. And is there when I need something on me.

Love what you're doing with the floor. Wish I was handy that way.

You know Beth, you're right. I am currently using a quilt I had in the house but it's bulky and requires a large washer/dryer. I may just go with a lighter weight quilt or blanket that will wash up easier.

Although I haven't tried it yet, a friend of mine with 2 dogs uses a fitted jersey sheet & swears by it. It's stretchy and kind of sticks to the upholstery so it doesn't slip much. AND it's not bulky & can be washed easily. You can find them all over the place right now as kids like to take them to college. I've got an old set that I'm going to try out, but it won't be until Sept. before I get away again to report back.

Just another option ...

I use bath sheets. They're easy to wash and dry.

Oooh ladies, lots of good ideas. Guess Linda and I will go shopping again today. Mike is putting finishing touches on the floor today and doing the steps. So many blessings for me in this life.
