Horizon Seeker has wheels!

:D Woo Hoooo. At long last the search is over. Last weekend sister Glimmer Goddess and I drove down to the Chattanooga area to look at some gently used rvs. Just as I was ready to give up there was one more. A little 24 foot Itasca Spirit. Just like Goldilocks, it felt just right. Took it for a spin and then knew it was right. Well, this weekend we went back and I got it! And talk about a trial by fire. It rained all the way to Ringgold, GA, all day while we were there finalizing, all night while we camped in the campground next door, and up till about 8am Sunday morning. I can be sure there are no leaks as I'm sure we would have discovered one if it was there. And having survived the Nashville floods last year, I admit to being a bit nervous until the rain stopped. We were pretty close to a lake it was did rise quite a bit. So we pulled out Sunday around lunch and the Goddess followed in my car as we brought it back toward Nashville (am considering a tow package and will consider all recommendations). I retire on May 31, the last day of school, and have a few sick days built up so I called in a sick day and we camped in Manchester at Old Stone Fort state park last night. So beautiful to wake up in the woods with all the wildlife. After lunch we pulled the cord and started out but noticed the back tire was loosing air so stopped to air up. Seems I was missing a valve stem cap. Took care of that and got back on the road. Home now and the seeker is parked in the drive. I think I'm suffering separation anxiety. Will try to post the few pictures we took so far. Having some computer problems at the moment. Yeah, me. I feel like it's a big step.

thanks to Mitch or Vickie, I forget which one put me on the map. Feels good to be listed. And a small gtg in Paris, TN sounds good for the spring if that invite is still open and includes Gus and the goddess. I seldom travel without one or both.

Like I said, computer foul ups here. But I do have a blog - something I started doing when I lived in Thailand - and there are a couple of pix there. Just point your cursor at http://horizonseeker55.blogspot.com

Today was a bit scary, driving over a narrow one lane bridge in the park, nursing a leaking tire down the highway, parking at home in my not so level driveway. All these things took my mind off the date: 5 years ago today I became a widow. Larry was the love of my life and my rock. We had only 17 years together but they were packed with lots. He would be so proud of the new me - and that I'm taking his dog for long walks in the woods. Enough teary stuff. Let me know what you think about the pix and the blog and don't forget to give me ideas about towing. I have an HHR that is paid for and it's small enough to be towed by Seeker. Don't have a clue how to go about setting it up. Whew!! Makes my day job look simple.

Stay safe,

Sorry that it's a sad anniversary for you. But like you said, Larry's probably loving the new you, right!

Of course, Gus and The Goddess are welcome. Well, just so long as we don't have to bow to either one? ? ?

PS: It was ME who put you on the map...THAT Vickie, well, I'll just leave it at that. (but she's mean mean mean...)

That comment about me was showing how mean YOU are! But just for that, I'll just mention to the new Vickie that you should NOT have Mitch bow, it would be like trying to find an ant in the grass, just sayin'...

Thanks Mitch. Seems if I go to Paris I will have to go the winery and if I go to a winery without the goddess I will be in trouble (as in she's the only dog sitter I trust) if I need to travel and leave Gus somewhere. Yes, you're right, Larry would love the new me. Of course he'd also want to take that park host job that BarbaraRose posted too!

Congratulations Vickie. What a neat looking rig. I am doing the happy dance for you. New Horizons are indeed coming up.

I have a 2008 HHR and it is towable. Check your manual under recreational towing. Mine is automatic and I have to remove the ignition fuse. I actually had my mechanic put in a switch that I can flip. That is so much easier than taking the part loose from the passenger side, pulling the fuse, then when getting to the destination putting the fuse in and putting cover back on the gizmo. So I flip the switch for the fuse, flip the switch for the stay-in-play braking, put the gear in neutral, turn off the auto lights, get out and lock it and it is ready to pull. Course that means I have the tow bar already hooked up. Primarily two tow bar systems that I see a lot. One is Blue Ox and the other is Roadmaster. It becomes a personal choice which one you go with.

I have a Brake Buddy for sale if you are interested let me know. I used it for about a year then in January I put the Stay-In-Play braking system in my HHR and I really like that - pricey but I was willing to do it.

Now the count down begins for earnest!!! Good luck on the sale of the stick n brick and getting your stuff disposed of one way or another. (That's such a job!)

Beutiful rig. You certainly lucked out. I think my heart would have been in my mouth crossing that bridge. Why they leave a large opening in the middle is probably for water run off I'm sure, but do they have to leave it that big!

Congratulations. And I know you will enjoy. Going to love hearing about your travels.
