My New Trailer

Well, it's a done deal. The HTT is now sitting at Discount RV's lot and my new Keystone Hideout is home with me. It was a busy day, getting everything set up on the Hideout, transferring stuff from one trailer to the other, and then getting the new one home. It's amazing what a difference 6" in width and putting the couch in the front of the trailer makes. It feels so much more spacious!

Here are a few pictures. Marianne went with me to help with moving stuff, so while I was doing the paperwork she played photographer.

Image

The bed is a fullsize, with a fold-down bunk above. I'll probably use the bunk for storage, and no, I'm NOT keeping that bedspread.

Looking toward the front of the trailer from the bed:

The bathroom sink is outside the bathroom. It has a shower/tub combo, which is behind the door on the left:

It came with an awesome entertainment center. This flat-screen TV is 12-volt:

The radio has a DVD/CD player, auxiliary jack, and a USB port so I can attach my iPod. Really impressive, if you ask me!
Image

The galley. I like the black fridge and the double sink:
Image

The couch, which folds down into a nice-sized bed. I like the low cupboard, which I'll use for an end table:

An electric awning. Now maybe I'll use it more often!

All set up and ready to head home. It's about a foot higher than the HTT was -- didn't realize it until I got it back to the lot and stood there looking at it. Whew!

My first trip is in 2 weeks, and then I'm going to look for excuses to be sick at school and find anywhere I can to go camping. Then I'll be taking a 4-week trip to the NW this summer with friends. I'm delighted with the change, and feel like it'll suit me much better than the HTT. While I loved it, I just wasn't using it like I wanted. Now I've got no excuses!

Wow Laura and Jed, congrats on your new home! How long is it? Is Jed back to normal now, can he get in and out of the trailer on his own? I'm sure you both will enjoy it.

LAURA! You have a newer, updated version of my exact trailer----a Hornet Hideout 19FLB!!! I LOVE mine! I like your entertainment center and radio way better than mine, however! I also think I like the electric awning, but am not so sure about that, in case your batteries go dead during a storm? I will be interested to see how that works. Your deco is also much prettier than mine was, before I changed it to sunflowers! That front sofa is my favorite bed in there---I love it! Although the corner bed with tons of memory foam on it is also pretty comfy! You and Jed will have many happy hours of camping in that now! I don't have the neat end table in mine next to the sofa....just another full cupboard down under the upper one. The end table is a nice touch and has a couple of electrical outlets there, too. I also like that the cupboards above your sofa are enclosed.....my two on the ends are, but there is a big space in the middle that is all open for some strange reason. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Edit:::some pics I found of mine for comparison:

Laura, really, really nice. Can Jed get up on the corner bed? I know my two couldn't. Ummmm? Sleep WITHOUT dogs? Don't think I could, I'm so used to being crowed and cuddled.

Really nice - and Soos, my first thought was she had stolen yours!

I'm moving this thread to the room where we brag about our rigs - will be easier to find it later :)

What a nice looking trailer. That floor plan really does open the trailer up. Great neutral colors also. Enjoy your "sick" days. Linda

Ooooohhhh,... very nice!

Ya know Laura,.. i think you are looking a little pale,... like you might be sick? Surely you aren't going to school tomorrow with that beautiful new toy there to play with?

I really like the end table cupboard by the sofa,.. You are right, that floor plan doesn't need a slideout, very spacious. That's one fantastic rig, may you and Jed have lots of wonderful trips with it! :D

Karen, you might think that I'm cruel, but Jed doesn't sleep with me at home. That privilege is reserved for my 2 kitties. He's got a wonderful bed on the floor and is quite content there.

He slept with me in the old trailer just because I couldn't keep him off easily. But since this bed is a bit higher I'm hoping that he'll stay on the floor or on the couch -- which will be carefully covered to help it stay clean. I don't like have 70# of hairy, dead, snoring weight next to me in bed. Hey! Maybe that's why I never got married! ;)

We'll see how things go on the first trip in 2 weeks. He may try, but I don't think he'll win this little battle.
