I thought my fellow Tennesseans might enjoy this story, which was in our weekly paper today...gives a whole new meaning to the word RVing, eh? Traveling from Henry, TN (about 10 miles from where we live) to Phoenix, AZ. He hopes to arrive in Phoenix by July 4.

"I have planned this trip around my retirement, while I still have my health. I have thought about making this trip for a long time. This is my dream and now it's coming true."

"I think this is the best way to see America. I am going slow enough to see what she has to offer. The world is going too fast and people don't have time to see what is around them. The only one who want to come with me is Britt, my 4-year-old Blue Heeler. She will be great company for me. So look for me and wave me on as I fulfill my dream to see some of the best this country has to offer one day at a time."

If you want to keep track of his adventures, he has a website: http://site.twomulesandawagon.com/.

I sure hope he has better luck than Bob Skelding had. He was doing nearly the same thing with a four-horse hitch,.... got hit by a tractor-trailer and killed two horses, nearly being killed himself. And he was sticking to back roads. Gotta admit it would be fun to go at a slower pace and see the country.

will have to bookmark his site and keep up with him. Pulling into Phoenix around July 4th
is going to be brutal heat, will have to check his blog and see how he has that part planned out. Thanks for the link.

I thought it was really cool until I thought about the heat in Phoenix at that time of the year. Those poor mules! I hope the guy has planned for them in the heat!

Very interesting. I, too, thought immediately about Bob Skelding. I read recently that he will soon start building his new rig. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I too thought of Bob immediately. Will keep up with both of their reports now. Thanks for the link. Nothing provides better encouragement than seeing one "just do it".

I just read all of his posts ... what a wonderful way to travel ... and
the kindness of the people he has met. I'm going to make his travels
a part of my day as well. Go John!
