Visited the (new) trailer yesterday

We visited the trailer in storage yesterday. Still too cold to bring it home or pack it up. After the other trailer burned, we piled all the stuff in one corner of the garage. It will be like unwrapping a new xmas present; I don't even remember what I have in that pile. We measured the hitch height level....I don't believe the previous owner didn't have levels on the trailer. We measured the windows to replace the blinds (the lightweight ini blinds get bent too easily. We are going to put the honeycomb, cordless shades in there and get a whole new look. Since I don't have pics yet, this is the exact trailer even down the color scheme. There is a video and 25 shots. In another month or so, we will bring her home for some pics and some packing.

I like the uncarpeted plan, we it will be easier to clean with the dog travelers. It also has the big slide-out storage containers on both sides of the front outside storage compartment. Those will be slick and I know they are very expensive.

Is it spring yet?

I love that color scheme so much more than many I have seen (including my own - I don't particularly like the pattern). And it looks like you have a lot of storage. I will be interested to see how you like the rear kitchen. I have read good and bad (dishes tend to fly because of the bumpy ride). Looks like a really nice trailer!

Vicki it is Spring. Well, it will be Sunday when you Spring forward. Looks like you have a great unit with lots of space. Happy planning and packing. I am sure when you go thru your stack of 'stuff', you will be saying "now what was I thinking when I packed that in there"! Looking forward to seeing you down the road.

Thanks for that tip about the rear kitchen. I will remember that when I am storing the dishes.

More storage under the bed also. Will put blankets there. Luckily the stereo is updated enough to have an aux. jack for the ipod music and book collection. It shipped with a Toshiba TV/DVD but the previous owners took it or it died. Outside cd in a compartment also, but no outside speakers. Not sure what that is about. 600# hitch weight, I was afraid I would have to put an electric jack on it (ours does not have one), but it is geared so efficiently, it was no problem to hand crank.

I have a lot to learn about this trailer. Will probably bring it home first part of April. Need to buy a better sewer hose and connections; new blinds, better/bigger handles going in both doors, better shower head....I have a list.

We are missing the plastic tubs that slide out like a drawer under the sink. But I can't find them anywhere as a replacement. Any ideas?

Can you tell I am getting excited? Took three little dogs with us yesterday to explore inside; only one has been camping before as my job has had me too busy for the last three years. No more. Now it is my turn. The dogs loved the trailer. Wait until they realize it involves even more fun!

Mitch, I had a Sienna...I just traded it for the Silverado. I spent a year looking for a trailer the van could pull that met our requirements. I never could find one with appropriate weight, price, layout. I have owned three Sienna's and will always miss it. But alas, I had to let her go.

I would be interested in knowing how your Silverado with the 5.3 V* pulls that trailer. I had a 5.7 before my lease was up on it and although it pulled the trailer okay, I felt a need for more power and my trailer weighs less than yours. Let me know how it goes as I have been considering trading down to the 5.3.

Our trailer's maximum weight is 5860 lbs. max. loaded. The truck tow rating is 7400 lb. The guys on the Jayco forum say it should be a smooth, well within range tow. If I was traveling all over the US or full timing it, and had a different budget, more power I think will always be better. But this is the only vehicle I have, and I had to mind the gas mileage so this is what I will have to work with. I don't see us going far, as we just don't have the time or money. We have so much to choose from from north to south without climbing a pass, I think we will be OK. I am pleased that we have so much trailer space at such a light weight. This trailer would probably be a real challenge to full time in as it only has a load capacity of 1200 lbs.

I have to try to work 2-1/2 more years before retiring and then won't have funds to do much. We have mountain passes in three directions. but we are wide open and a flat drive all the way north to the Canadian border, with nothing but beauty on the way. We love to head to one of the lakes, take the lake kayaks, bicycles, the dogs, a pile of books and most of all my camera and just hang out.

So yes, I am sure more power will always be more comfortable. But here I am.
