Here is a link to the video of Lily having her cubs, a week earlier than expected! She had two.

I saw that and was so excited! It still amazes me that we are now allowed to see inside a black bear den in the dead of winter to watch cubs get born! I can remember when people always thought black bears hibernated deeply and that their cubs were born when mama was sound asleep, almost unconscious----an old wives' tale now, as we know better! I used to wish to be a black bear mama when my kids were getting born, but now I know it's just as tough for them as it was for me.

Except that Momma bear is much bigger than us and the cubs are much smaller than human babies when born, so probably not nearly as much work for them (until later!).
